About the Book

With the burgeoning of the older generation this book will undoubtedly appeal to all those who lived through the war years - it will evoke many memories. It is the story of Joan Woodley's life from 1915 to present, of growing up in rural England, emigrating to Australia after World War II, of leaving her husband and seeking a new life in Canada where, with very little money she approached the Red Cross. With their help she worked her way from the Pacific to the Atlantic. This book should appeal to all women, especially seniors who find themselves alone for whatever reason. The Chronicles of a Wanderer is an outstanding story of adventure, courage, and love.

From the Author

This is the story of my life: from growing up in a peaceful country village in England to immigrating to Australia after the War and finally settling in Canada where I found the irresistible fascination of the Rocky Mountains and love and life in the twilight years. Latterly, I discovered the joy of writing and my memoirs will be my legacy for my four children: Barbara Ray, Graham, Jennefer and Nick, and for my nephew Shaun.
