About the Book
"The November Deep" is the first in a series of adventures featuring the new Canadian character, Nell Fitzgerald O'Donovan -- an intuitive red-head with savvy and sparkle and a knack for solving problems.
Following a brief introduction to Nell at her home on Galiano Island's rugged north coast, an unexpected telephone call brings her a strange new assignment. She is urgently required on the site of a multi-million dollar astrophysics laboratory in Sudbury, Ontario. The facility, located deep in an abandonned nickel mine, is being subtly sabotaged by a member of an elite scientific community -- and it's Nell's job to figure out who.
Here, in the mysterious underground world of the neutrino hunters, Nell struggles to gain insight into the dark intent of a disturbed and unknown mind.
The unusual plot and made-for-movie action are balanced by credible characters and superb attention to detail. Like others before you, you will read this thoughtful drama in a single sitting, secure in the knowledge that there are more adventures to come.

"Nell turned on her heels and ran, ran like the wind, plunging left at drift four, then down a tunnel to the right. Flashing the light at intervals, she groped desperately along the dark rock face to steady her steps.
Turn after turn she took, dodging this way, feigning that, in a frenzied quest to disorient him, elude him, and wait for help. But ever quick, he kept pace, his light bobbing doggedly behind, throwing up shadows on the rock ahead.
She took a turn to the left, flicked on the light, and her heart stopped. It was a dead end. He was too close. The game was up. Something in her could not accept it. Light out now, she dropped to her knees, feeling blindly along that tunnel of death for any nook or cranny. His steps echoed in the drift outside, his light flickered from around the corner. Then she felt a little stir of air, a tiny draft. She followed it, crossing the tracks at the end of the tunnel in a low crouch. Her hands splayed imploringly over the rocks, the draft became stronger. She reached the corner, and there it was! A narrow opening. She wriggled into it, hands scraping against the rock, dust clinging to her hair.
No sooner had she got the length of her body into that crawl-space than his flashlight beam scoured the dead-end at her feet. Holding her breath like a hunted animal, she waited on the fates."
