Sample Excerpts
Preface - Note to the Reader
My sole criterion for the tips and time savers in this book was:
"How useful are they?" I've taught public and corporate computer software classes for more than twelve years and have drawn from student feedback for this book. I know which tips and time savers make a lasting impression on people and which do not. The ones that do are in this book.
I always recommend taking the instructor-lead classes, but most people seem to reach a plateau after taking them. Frustration sets in. You ask yourself. Why am I so slow? Why do I have to ask someone for help? I know most of you won't go out and buy one of the very good, 50-pound books about Microsoft® Excel. Are they good? You bet. But I know that most corporate users of Excel don't buy them and won't read them.
This book will take you to the next level. I want you to be quicker and more comfortable with Excel. When you reach that next level, you will also feel better about yourself! My book is designed to increase your productivity and self-esteem. I hope it does both. If it does, then I've done my job.
This is not a reference book, but there is a detailed index, so you can research a situation.
You don't have to "read" this book from cover to cover, but I would recommend flipping through it page by page. The biggest problem with using today's software is, "You don't know what you don't know!" So - why don't you flip through the book - right now?
