About the Book
With the onslaught of terrorism, comes the question "WHY?" The fact is evil has reigned in the hearts of men and women long before our generation. Every time we are selfish or mean it causes pain to someone. Sin is the cause of evil, not God. From the very beginning God has allowed men and women the freedom of choice and when wrong choices are made there are consequences. The consequences usually affect more than the guilty one(s). God never intended His special creation to choose evil.
You Were Created explains God's love for us even when we disobey Him. It covers several areas that we struggle with every day. His answer is not a government economic or welfare program. It is a program that, in love, calls His children back home to Him. It is about change from the inside out that gives us the desire to do good instead of evil. It is a program that will give peace even amidst extreme turmoil.

Chapter 1
CREATED TO KNOW GOD
There was a song a while back that contained the words, "Getting to know you, getting to know all about you." It was kind of a neat song. Knowing someone better gives you a chance to decide if you want them "in your space" or not. Wouldn't you like to get to know your Creator better if you could? If you knew Him personally then you would know if you wanted Him "in your space." The good news is that you can know Him. As you draw near to Him you will find out that He is a God of love who wants you to live in the fullness of that love. The secret of how to do this was revealed in the Holy Bible.
This first section of YOU WERE CREATED is about how you can know Him through a personal relationship with His Son Jesus Christ. It is not so much about doing things differently on your own as it is about a change from the inside out. When you accept Jesus, the Holy Spirit of God enters in and allows you to see things in a new light. Your heartfelt desires change when you become a Christian. This inside change will be reflected in your external actions as you relate to others.
The second section deals with some key topics concerning the relationships we establish here on earth. How we relate to those around us is a major part of who we are. We know this because God sent Jesus to be the example of how we are to relate to each other. His life revealed the very character of our Creator.
Everything He did, while walking on this earth as a man, is an example of how we should live. There was never one who was more compassionate to the physical, psychological and spiritual needs of others. He fed the hungry, healed the lame, and made the blind to see. He always gave credit to His Father for the things He did on earth and when He went back to the Father, He did not leave us all alone. He sent the Holy Spirit to be our Guide and Comforter. Later through his early followers, He gave us the New Testament to further show us the way.
It is our heart that you will find something within these pages that will encourage you as you seek truth. Biblical principles are universal even though the examples are from western culture. Even so, readers from other cultures should be able to relate these principles to their own culture.
While it is true that God often chose to use a particular person or nation to complete His purposes, He has never limited His love just to them. In the Bible's Old Testament story of Ruth, God clearly shows that His love was not just limited to the Israelites. In the New Testament story of Jesus and the woman at the well, God again reveals his love to those outside the Israelite nation. There are many such examples in both the Old and New Testaments. If there was any doubt about God's love for all peoples, Jesus erased it during His final days on the earth. In Matthew 28:16-20 we find what is known as the Great Commission passage: "Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, Œall authority in heaven and earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.'"
God really does love you, no matter who you are or what you have done or not done in this life. Will you consider a proposal from the One who gave you life? Will you allow Him to be a part of your life and share in His great love for you?
If this book is instrumental in you coming to understand there is a God and that He loves you personally, then you will know it was not our words but the Holy Spirit that enabled it to happen. Only the Holy Spirit can enter your life and change you by revealing the truth of the cross to you. Human words cannot, nor will ever be able to, accomplish that.
