About the Book

John Stone, handsome and athletic, was admired by many women, but his one and only love was for his beautiful wife Mary. Now she lay dead, brutally murdered along with his son David and his daughter Cindy, shot in their home early one morning by a masked intruder.

Stone can choose to either fight his way through this great trauma, or give up and die himself. John finally decides, after being brutally abused by two prisoners in the jail where he was serving, to train to fight for himself and for the love of his family.

This powerful novel chronicles John Stone's fierce and passionate efforts to find his family's remorseless killer and bring him to justice, cost being no matter, in the City of New York.

About the Author

Frank Senauth was born in Guyana, South America. As a teen he had two wishes: one was to write and the other to travel. His first wish came true in 1959 when he was able to venture out to London, England, where he worked and studied. In 1973 he felt that Canada held better prospects for him and he subsequently immigrated to Winnipeg, Canada. He worked at several jobs until he was able to start his own real estate business.

In 1986 he retired from the business, and decided to pursue the second wish of his boyhood dream. Having the leisure and the means to pursue a writing career, he took up several creative writing courses in children's and adult literature in Canada and the United States. He had no idea that it would have taken him ten long years' of hard work and dedication to bring his creative writing to life, making the second wish of his boyhood dream nearer to reality. He really wanted to write to entertain his audience, and make them feel that they were part of the story. He felt without an audience there would be no story to tell.

Senauth feels that creative writing has changed somewhat throughout the years, and that he has learnt to write for an audience rather than himself. After many years of developing his prose, he felt ready to take on the world with his fascinating writing. His first idea for a novel was A Wish To Die -- A Will To Live, published in the United Kingdom in October 1997 and here reprinted. His previous works, To Save The Titanic From Disaster II and A Cry for Help are also available from Trafford. The author lives in Winnipeg with his wife Maria and teenage son Anthony.

The author hopes that you'll enjoy reading his work, as much as he has enjoyed writing for you, the wonderful public, because without you there would be no one to write for.

Excerpt

John after resting for an hour in his room, he decided to go for a bite to eat. He walked four blocks on Atlantic Avenue, then on Main Street until he came upon a small hamburger joint. He ordered two burgers and fries and a large coffee. After the meal, he made his way slowly back from the way he came. He looked carefully at all the buildings on Main Street, until he came to Atlantic Avenue. He only passed a few persons on the way, and they were all black youths. They looked at him suspiciously as they passed him. He felt if he had darken his face, they wouldn't look at him so suspiciously.
The air was mild and the skies were dark. John shook his head several times. He couldn't believe he was in a new world, and it was the world of his visions and dreams. He had a strong feeling that one of his dreams was about to become reality very soon. He crossed Main Street to Atlantic Avenue. It was quiet for a while, and after walking two blocks, he suddenly heard screams of a woman. They were coming from behind a building in a back alley. He listened carefully, then he ran to where the screams were coming from. It was if the screams were drawing him closer to the woman in trouble. He came upon a side entrance, then he advanced closer. He approached cautiously behind the building, and under the dimmed light he saw three persons against the brick wall. He went closer and saw two men and a woman. The two men were trying to rape a black young woman.
"What's going on here?" John shouted at the two black men. They both turned around in surprise to face their intruder. The woman quickly pulled up her panties, then pulled down her dress, and ran quickly pass the men.
"You put your nose in our business, Brother. Now, we'll rape you," the one youth told John. Then they both pulled their knives and came slowly toward him.
"No need to get rough, lads. I'm sorry I made your date ran away. I said I'm sorry, let's call it a night," John told the two youths.
"No way, Brother. When we're finished raping you, we'll cut you up into little pieces. You'll pay with your blood for poking you big nose into our business," the other youth told John.
"You speak very well, Brother. You should join a political party of your choice, and make speeches like that and you'll be elected," John joked at the youth.
"You're making fun of me. I'm real mad now. You'll pay, you'll pay," the youth shouted.
John waited until they were near enough to him, then he dived for their legs, and kicked both of his opponents between the legs. Then he came from behind them, kicking them hard on their asses. They were no match for him and they ran quickly out of the back alley.
"We'll get you again, White Brother. We'll get you," the one youth shouted.
"Yes, we'll meet again, Brothers, and thank you for the workout.
Now it's my bedtime. I must get to bed," John said to himself, then he slowly headed to his room on Atlantic Avenue.
John got back to his room, took off his jacket, shirt, and pants. He left on his underpants. He put his clothes neatly on the nearby chair, then he threw himself onto the small bed. The bed springs rang out a soft song. He just lay there and listened until there was no more melody to the bed springs. There was a dim light in the ceiling, and the room reminded him of his cell in the prison, and he realized that the room was worse than his cell. Now he was out of prison, he deserved better, but he knew he had to live out the spell that was cast onto him.
He looked up at the ceiling, and saw a big spider, making its way across the room. He didn't want to kill it, as it was bad luck. Then he thought how bad could his luck get. It was bad as it was, and nothing was going to change it in a hurry. The mice ran up and down his room, and the roaches came out of their hiding places, then the mice would make supper out of the roaches.
His heart started beating faster as he remembered how his life had changed in just a few minutes. And to be honest with himself, he didn't have a life anymore. Now all he could think about was bad things that would only lead him into trouble. Now trouble was his name and his game. If that made sense to someone else, it didn't make any sense to him.
