About the Book

This book approaches Ernesto Sabato's novel, Abaddón El Exterminador, as a work of art based on the precepts of alchemy, especially as expounded by C.G. Jung and his disciples. An alchemical perspective serves as a point of departure for analyzing the many characters, including the main character Sabato, with all his alter egos as well as the unique roles the women play. The primary objective of this book is to establish Abaddón El Exterminador as an alchemical opus. The novel is the product, the crowning effort or, in alchemical terms, the Lapis Philosophorum the faustian sabato achieves in his arduous quest for redemption.
