Excerpts

The mistake

I can't imagine being the mother of your child
That thought is too wild for me to comprehend
And since that close encounter, I realize we have to end.
I don't even care to be your friend,
But then again,
I can remember when things were better
Back when you didn't let her
Get between us.
We actually had conversation without a cuss.
Now all we have is lust,
And that is just not enough.
But anyway,
I am waiting on the day
When we're resolved.
I think its better
That we're not together
Maybe it could have worked
If you just came with me to church.
But you always had an excuse,
Then turn around and seduce
Damn!!
Just think if the doctor had to induce
The labor
Now the baby's gone
We can't save her.
She probably would have been a beautiful one
Then again, she probably would have been our son.
Now I can't change what we've done.
Damn!!
The mere thought hurts
More so then giving birth
Ever since that morning after
It hard to experience laughter
Do you feel the same
All I feel is pain
Well at least there is a lesson to gain.

Getting Over On The System

Getting Over On The System
That's warehousing kids
Claiming to miss them
Claiming to understand
The knowledge that was spoken
But still trying to get by
On getting a free token

Getting over on the system
That's warehousing kids
Claiming to Miss them
Having the audacity
Of harassing me
For extra clothes
For a girl you're suppose
To provide for
That I have a free ride for
When she sees her mother
And her millions of significant others
The thought of it makes me shutter
Of how we are conditioned to
Be dependent
On someone to give us a handout
When we were suppose to standout
And shine
Not ready to have another baby
To receive another dime.

Getting over on the system
That warehousing kids
Claiming to miss them
Calling discipline
Abuse
Wondering why these girls are too loose
And these lil boys language is profusely
Unrefined.

Awkward Affection

Could it be possible?
Is it possible?
The klutz that I am it is possible.
It is possible
That silly old clumsy me
While Walking down
The Avenue of Affection or
The Boulevard of Benevolence
That I could have
Crashed on the Course of Compassion or maybe
Became Impacted on
The Interstate of Infatuation
And on that road I slipped over my own two feet.
I slipped and fell
Fell headfirst and face down
I tripped on a crack in the pavement
And fell
In Love.
