Only four people knew the real truth about the the attack on Pearl Harbor. The President, General Marshall and Deke Mahan, who became a party to the truth when it was discovered that he understood the Japanese, as well as anyone could understand the japanese. And, who, then was shocked to learn that the President had someone very high in the Japanese government who could keep them informed of every move the Japanse made; someone who was a shadowy figure, fearful of his life and his family's, if he was ever discovered. Deke's task was to capitalize on this information source, fighting the F.B.I., J. Edgar Hoover, and an agent, who thought he was a German spy and who went to extraordinary lengths to prove what he thought. And, also at any cost, to keep the secret from becoming known to the American public, and even from the woman he loved!

About the Author In the author's words, "Born September 10, 1939, ten days after World War II began, I grew up on a rural farm in Central Louisiana, without much contact with the outside world. Only when my uncles returned from the Pacific war did I learn what was happening in the reat of the world. From those stories and many otheers over the years, my interest in World War II grew. Today, in this area, I am considered one of the best informed amateur historians of that period. Graduated from Bunkie High School, 1957 and attended Southwestern Louisiana Institiute, now known as Louisiana State University at Lafayette, as an upper elementary education major; which I never finished because of family needs. Became an accountant for the first few years after college, which then turned into a specialist for then a new industry, computers; a profession I have followed since. And, one of the biggest mistakes I ever made was not taking the offer to join a new company that had come into being; that company became known as Microsoft in later years! During those years after leaving the farm, I also bcame a professional musician and played with several of the leading bands of the late 1950's and early 1960's. I am married, with three children and five grand children, all of whom I love dearly and who are always interested in stories from my growing up as a rural farm youth."

    On June 2, 1942, just prior to the decisive naval battle off Midway Island, several selected officers were given a very remarkable document which showed the precise details of the enemy's plan for their attack on Midway Island.

    One astonished officer just did not and could not believe that the material he was looking at had been prepared at a desk in Pearl Harbour.

    He was so shocked at what he was seeing that he remarked, "That man of ours in Tokyo is worth every cent we pay him!"
