About the Book

Catherine Berrister is a stunningly beautiful actress of international fame. She's a happy go lucky, in-your-face woman who is respected by her peers and revered by her audiences. Through the years, Cathy has achieved Hollywood's most coveted awards.

One afternoon as she stares at her reflection in the mirror, she throws down the eyeliner and yells, "I'm sagging, I'm bagging. This makeup just isn't cutting it anymore!"

Two weeks later she goes under the knife. Six months later there's not a crease or line in her face. She looks as she did when she was thirty five. At thirty five, she looked twenty four.

*******

Her manager, Frank Cadigan, has her on a tight schedule. Cathy has been traveling non-stop. One evening, she is reviewing a script when suddenly, she tosses it aside and says, "I NEED a vacation!" So she calls Frank and tells him of her decision. "At least three months," she adds.

Afterward, she hauls out the atlas and begins thumbing through it. "Ok, this looks good.... OH.... and France, then maybe Italy." Suddenly, her beloved cat Gusty, jumps up and sits next to her, licking her fur as Cathy continues searching for the next destination. Right before she goes to bed she circles England. "I want to see some of the castles...." she says and looks at Gusty as though the cat understood her every word.

*******

Almost three months have passed. Cathy, Frank and Jim Miller are sitting on a yacht off the coast of England. They're having a wonderful time, eating, drinking, laughing, it's a beautiful evening! Suddenly Frank jumps up and makes a bet with Cathy.... that she can't row around the yacht in less than a minute! Cathy takes his bet and runs to the back of the yacht. She stares at the dingy, which is loaded with her belongings for the long trip home in two days, and lowers herself down into the dark waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Frank runs inside and searches for the spot light.

*******

Cathy wakes up and finds herself sitting on a beach, in the dingy, trying to recall what happened. "Ok, Frank bet me I couldn't row around the yacht in....."

Suddenly a shadow envelops her. She turns around and discovers six men, sitting on very large horses, staring down at her, so she looks up at the man in the middle and says, "Hi, I'm Cathy, where the hell am I, and who are you?" The man looks down and answers, "I am King Richard the Second, of the House of Plantaganet, Son of Edward the Black Prince." She peeps over her sunglasses. "King Richard? Right.... and I'm Princess Leah," as her eyes drift to the man sitting next to him.

*******

Forty five minutes later she arrives at an enormous castle. Adrian Blackthorn, the man who brought her to the stronghold, lays the reins across his enormous black steed and says, "On Brother.... slowly." As they walk into the belly of the incredible stronghold, she notices people are staring at her, so she raises her hand and begins waving as she's seen Queen Elizabeth do so many times and says, "Lovely day, wouldn't you agree?"

*******

She is shown to her room by a woman called Helen. After she leaves, Cathy stares at the beauty which surrounds her when suddenly, she jumps up and says, "Thank God I packed last night! Thank God for cell phones!" So she runs to her purse and grabs the small communicator and presses pound seven, Frank's number. It rings only once when he answers. She practically yells into the phone, "Where in the HELL are you Frank? This is some elaborate trick you pulled on me. I must admit though you are very inventive with all of the king, knight, and castle shit. How DID you manage to pull this off? Unbelievable Frank...." Frank wants to leap through the phone and strangle her. "Cathy, LISTEN to me, I didn't set you up. I DIDN'T pull anything on you.... you have to believe that. I'm going to the police or...."

She becomes more agitated by the second. "I've heard enough! Get your ass over here and pick me up.... no wait, come to dinner with the King and I.... oops, silly me, I'm sure you already know about that. Anyway, gotta go now cause I don't want the battery to go dead. You know my number if you want to leave a voice mail." Frank starts yelling, "Cathy, Cath, listen to me, this isn't...." She interrupts him and says, "See you at dinner tonight sweetie."

*******

THE INCREDIBLE ADVENTURE BEGINS! It will make you laugh, it will make you cry. You'll hold your breath as Catherine Berrister struggles to understand the unimaginable situation that faces her. If you're a man, you'll fall in love with her, if you're a woman, you'll fall in love with Adrian Blackthorn, War Lord to his Majesty Richard II, King of England. EXCERPT:

Suddenly her feet came off the sand. Adrian put his enormous hands around her waist and lifted her up onto the large horse. "We will leave now!"
"All right all ready I was just trying to help." They began riding when Cathy turned and yelled, "You'll probably have to make two trips because that's three months worth of stuff. And for God's sakes DON'T BREAK ANYTHING!" Then she casually asked, "What did the man say your name was?"
"Adrian my Lady."
She thought of the movie Rocky so she said in a rather loud, trying-to-sound-male voice, "Adrian, ADRIAN!"
He stopped the horse and turned her toward him, "What is it, are you ill?"
"I wish everyone would stop asking if I'm ill, I was just thinking of a movie I had seen and there was a character in it named Adrian that's all, sorry!"
"Movie?" he asked.
"Never mind," and thought, "Where's he been, on Mars?"
The horse began moving when Adrian placed his left arm around Cath's waist and took the mighty horse into a gallop. For some strange reason she felt.... giddy and didn't attempt to move away from his powerful grip. It made her feel safe, she was actually having fun. At one point the horse broke it's stride after jumping over a small log. Adrian held her closely making certain she wouldn't end up on the sand. The stumble of the horse frightened her as she began shaking. Adrian stopped the horse. She looked over her shoulder into those big green eyes as his mahogany colored, shoulder length hair blew in the breeze and said, "Thanks."
He stared straight into her baby browns and replied, "My pleasure Lady Catherine," and continued staring not pulling his eyes away.
She thought she was going through puberty. Cathy felt light-headed as though she were sixteen again. "My God," she thought, "Why the hell don't they make men like this where I come from? This one's too good to be true," so she turned around to avoid making an idiot of herself because she found herself nearly drooling. Adrian put the horse into a leisurely gallop returning that beautiful arm around her waist.
Suddenly Frank came to mind, "I've pulled some pretty good tricks on you but by God you're one up on me this time. That's it, this is one of his good buddies from Merry Old England. I'm gonna kill you Frank!" grinning to herself.

EXCERPT:

Adrian walked to the tray and poured a goblet of wine stretching his legs out. Just as he took a mouthful a faint knock came at the door. "Enter," he said. The door opened. Lydia Clark stepped in, closing the door softly behind her.
She ran and jumped onto his lap throwing her arms around his muscular neck, "Oh Adrian, I have waited for you all night. I am so happy you have returned to...."
Adrian placed the glass on the small stand, removed her arms and said, "Not tonight Lydia, I have many things to ponder and you are not one of them."
"Have I done something to anger you? I will gladly...."
"No Lydia, you have not, but you will anger me if you keep up this nonsense."
"Nonsense?" She jumped off his lap, ran around to the back of the chair and began rubbing his broad shoulders. "I will make you forget your woes, you will...."
He turned to face her and practically yelled, "Cease this instant! I am not in the mood for a neck rub nor to hear your ramblings."
She looked at him with her beautiful green eyes and put her hands to her side, "Forgive me Adrian I meant not to upset you, only to please you."

EXCERPT:

"Rise Chambers, Catherine this is Sir Marcus Chambers, Henry's.... finest warrior," Richard said as he put his hand to his mouth and looked toward the ceiling.
"Holy guacamole.... umm, um, um!" she said underneath her breath. This man was G-O-R-G-E-O-U-S! She thought his hair was dyed black, but remembered there was no dye in these times. Coal black. His face was almost as perfect as Adrian's.... almost. Six six, maybe, and his eyes.... gold, eighteen carat was the only thing she could think of. And his body. She began fumbling with her hair. He looked like a mountain, a gorgeous mountain of muscle!
"Tis an honor my Lady," he said as he bowed from his waist never taking his eyes from hers. Everyone in the immediate area suddenly stared. Cathy felt someone standing behind her. Richard looked over his shoulder, Chambers looked over her head, finally Cathy turned around to see who they were staring at. Adrian was no more than a foot away. A huge smile came to her face but it disappeared when she knew he wasn't about to smile back. Marcus looked at her, then at Adrian. He crossed his massive arms to his chest and said, "Blackthorn."
Adrian followed suit only he clinched his fists as she was so accustomed to seeing him do. "Chambers." She looked back at Marcus.
He reached for her hand when everyone in the room suddenly heard a voice that came straight from hell as Adrian said, "DO NOT!" The room was silent. The two warriors glared at one another.

"All right, that's enough." They kept it up. "THAT IS ENOUGH!" Cathy yelled and felt as though she were standing between the Sears Tower and the John Hancock Building.

EXCERPT:

......He grabbed her hand and looked deeply into her eyes, "That is the only reason he travels with you?"
"Aye," she said and kissed his arm, "Now let go."
"Nay."
"Aye, I want my hand back." She pulled and tugged but he wouldn't release it and started grinning devilishly. "Adrian, let go!"
"As you wish." He released her hand then scooped her up in his lap smiling like a sixteen year old.
She crossed her arms. "You Mr. Blackthorn, are a BAD boy! You just can't seem to keep you hands to yourself now can you!" she said trying not to smile. He looked upon his beautiful woman and began stroking her hair which made her head tilt back then proceeded to put is mouth to her ear and said in a low erotic tone, "Nay my love, I am not a boy, I am a man...." his chest began heaving, his breathing was labored, ".... and you shall see how much this man loves you. My hands must remain idle for now, alas I will...."
Goose bumps rose on her arms "Adrian, please stop, this isn't fair, I can't stand this any longer. I want you so badly I can taste you." She put her arms around his neck and tried pushing him down. He didn't budge. "Ok, resist this!" she thought and kissed the tip of his nose, his eye lids then moved to his forehead, placing her hands on his face then nibbled his ear lobe whispering, "I love you...." then traced the outer part of his ear, licking and biting as she moved upward.
He grabbed her around her waist and flipped her so quickly she didn't realize what was happening. Adrian looked down. His enormous body hovered over her. Cathy began looking for buttons, seams, anything to help him out of his shirt. His huge hands reached for her blouse.
Suddenly, "Uh hemmm!"

EXCERPT

His head flew up. "Lydia? What are you doing here? Is Edwina ill?" She walked over to where he sat and placed the ale upon the table. "Um, yes my Lord she is ill, nothing to worry about, probably the grip or something. She asked if I would assist her with her duties. Course I said yes."
"That was kind of you."
Lydia knew what that meant. It meant Adrian was overwhelmed to see her for it had been such a long, long time. "Thank you my Lord." He returned to his reading. "Tis perfect," she thought staring at his beautiful torso. "Here is your ale Adrian.... my love."
"You may put it on the...." he looked up to see her nipples protruding from the thin silken gown. "What on holy earth are you doing Lydia?"
She placed the glass on the table and jumped in his lap hugging him around the neck. "Oh Adrian, I have missed you so! Do you like my...."
Cathy heard voices and almost turned to leave but thought, "Richard's not here, must be one of his friends. What the hell, here goes...." She tapped on the door and opened it slowly, "Anybody home?" she asked smiling. "I hope I didn't interrupt any.... thing." Adrian looked up, Lydia did the same. Cathy was frozen as she stared at the couple in the chair.

EXCERPT:

Cathy sat up to wipe her face when she looked at Jack. He lifted his head and stared toward the forest, which was behind her. His ears pointed in the same direction. She reached for the gun and turned around. "Shit!" she whispered. Three men were standing approximately fifty feet away, the ugliest, dirtiest men she had EVER seen! One of them made a wide circle to her left. Cathy stood up and began moving toward Jack, the same direction in which the man was headed. She was able to reach him before the man did and stood directly in front of him. Sinatra continued crooning. The men stared at her, the horse, and the shiny metal thing on the ground that continued making strange noises.
"She's a witch I tell ye. Let's burn 'er, what say you Weasel, then we'll take the fine animal. Let's due it, but we 'ave to hurry. Wait.... maybe the witch would like a little of us first, what say ye?" They laughed like a pack of hyenas.
Cathy held onto the reins with her right hand, the gun in her left and found the courage to speak, "Ok boys you don't want to mess with a witch do you? See that shiny box?" pointing to it. "The master's in there.... don't you hear him? Shall I release him on you?" and widened her eyes for effect.
They looked at one another wondering what to do. The one called Weasel spoke, "True evil.... ye need to be burned at the stake so's the world will be a better place."

EXCERPT:

Almost four inches of heavy, wet snow covered the land. She looked out the window and watched the soft white flakes fall to the ground.
Cathy ran to Adrian and asked him to go for a walk. They stepped outside, inhaled the cold, pristine air and decided to walk toward the trees. Adrian began picking up sticks for kindling when suddenly he felt something hit him on his back. He turned around faster than lightening and discovered his wife, with something in her hand. She threw it at him, hitting him squarely on the shoulder and started laughing, "Wanna have a snow ball battle?"
"Snow battle?"
"Yes my dear, with snow balls. Don't tell me you've never done this!"
"Nay, but I will oblige." He dropped the sticks and picked up a handful of the wet snow, forming it into a round orb and hurled it at her. She ducked and yelled, "Missed me, you missed me!" singing the words as she did when she was a child.
This time she made one heck of a slinger and sailed it toward him only this time he ducked and began charging her. "Shit!" she said and started running, screaming and laughing at the same time. He wrestled her to the ground. She continued laughing with delight saying, "That*s not fair we're supposed to throw snow balls you poop head, not tackle each other!"
"I prefer to tackle since it's what I do best!" She tried to wriggle out from underneath him but couldn't move as he went in for the kiss, not the kill. He kissed her frozen lips as both began laughing. Finally she said, "Ok let me up, I'm freezing. Get off me!"
"As you wish," he said and picked her up, throwing her into the air like a child. She fell back into his arms when he kissed her again, spinning her around. It was a magical moment for both. He hugged her and finally placed her on the ground.

EXCERPT:

Cathy watched the pomp and circumstance thinking, "This reminds me of the movie Cleopatra.... wrong century though," and continued smiling.
The men were cheering, the woman were waving and the whole thing made Cathy realize that the people of this time simply didn't have enough to think about, although she knew they had better comply with the King of England, else their heads would be where their body's were not. "What a thought!" she whispered and continued smiling, waving, showing off her Pepsodent smile.
They reached the steps that led to the entrance. When they stopped the horses, Richard was there to greet them. Adrian stepped graciously off his mount as he knelt in front of Richard. Richard in turn, placed his hand on the warrior*s head. Adrian finally rose and took Richard's hand, kissing the ring on his finger, they stared at one another as if they were in love.
"Gag me with a spoon!" she thought. People were yelling, clapping, cheering. "God, you'd think they'd just discovered penicillin." She brushed her hand across her mouth to keep from howling.
Suddenly the mighty Blackthorn turned to claim her. Richard watched as he walked to her and held out his two enromous arms, so that she could fall gracefully into them, making certain all of the men knew that women weren't smart enough to step off of a horse. She let him pretend, and he knew that she WAS pretending. Cathy smiled as he kissed her brow. Finally they walked to King Richard the Second. Cathy could have received the Oscar for this one. She bowed. There was silence throughout the crowd. Richard put his hand on her head when she looked up at him and said, "Yes my Lord, you have bestowed a marvelous gift upon us.... I am, however, grateful to be back at your mighty fortress, as is your mighty War Lord." Well, the King looked up as though he had just had an orgasm and put his hand in the air. Every person that was within twelve miles began yelling and cheering. Pandemonium was the only word to describe the event.

EXCERPT:

He walked slowly toward the bed and sat down next to her. "You are beautiful," he whispered as he placed her gently onto the mattress, kissing her on the lips.
"Wouldn't you like me to brush my teeth fir...."
He didn't hear her words. "I wish to make love to you," he said brushing her bangs away from her eyes.
"Well, be my guest but can you rise up for a second? I would really like to have you without any clothes on!" she said giggling.
He smiled at her then rose off the bed and peeled off the heavy clothing. She wiggled out of her panties slowly, just to tease him.
Finally he laid beside her, rubbing her neck with his fingers saying, "Please lie still for I wish to remember every inch, every curve.... every part of you," resting his mouth on her lips as his tongue began tracing her beautiful smile. "I love you wee one," he said and started to explore her body.

EXCERPT:

..... She was in heaven as she gripped the oars and began pulling them toward her. It reminded her of the outings with her family and friends. Frank suddenly popped into her mind. She smiled as she paddled out knowing if he were here, he would beat the pants off the three well muscled men who were beginning to acquaint themselves with the oars. Frank was an athlete. He didn't look like her husband or the other two, but she knew they would be floating in his wake if he was in the contest.

..... Cathy kept going. Suddenly she looked up as she sailed past the huge rock on her left then stopped rowing. She was nearly out of breath but looked around and saw Ben, who was still near the shore, Ed was sitting in his boat with one oar and Adrian was.... pissed! She could see it in his eyes so she arched her neck and looked as though she were pulling back her hair and started giggling. She knew he couldn't hear her. Finally she said, "YES!" to herself then placed her hands in the salty water splashing it in her face. It felt wonderful! Finally she waved and smiled. It was not a I kicked you ass smile, but a It's ok, nobody saw you lose smile, although she wanted to stand up in the boat and yell, "What's the matter boys, can't you take it?" So she turned her boat around and started rowing toward Adrian. As she passed by the huge brown stone she saw something on it and reversed her oars for a moment. There were figures.... drawings on the rock. She let her boat drift and looked closer.... figures of people, almost stick-like, there was a round figure with lines drawn around it.... "the Sun," she whispered. Her eyes continued to scan the surface of the immense monolith and saw several pictures of the moon in various stages. "Incredible!"
Her spell was broken when she suddenly heard, "CATHERINE!" and looked around. It was Adrian, he was almost forty feet away. She looked at him and yelled, "I'm coming!" and waved, but she wondered who on God's earth could have painted the figures.... who drew them on a rock in the OCEAN? "Blows me away!" she whispered, then turned around and smiled as she saw her husband's handsome face coming closer.
