About the Book

All that Erica Manning wanted to do was to spend the summer with her young daughter at a cabin in the mountains near a sleepy little town, away from the travails of her stressful life.
However, instead of peace and quiet, Erica finds herself at the center of a centuries-old blood feud between two mysterious men, an intense grudge that will not only unveil her hidden past but also change her future forever. One of them is attracted to her and wants to be with her; while the other one, his sworn enemy, wants to torment her and eventually kill her...all because she looks like someone they once both loved and fought over so many years ago.
Love, hatred, friendship, betrayal, the need for vengeance, and an unquenchable thirst for blood and passion...they are all EVERLASTING!

Excerpt

France, 1685.

Faster, he rode, atop a most valiant, impressive steed. As the heavy rainfall pummeled him from above, the man rode on, undaunted in his task. His clothes were tattered and soaked to his skin, and his long, wet, brown hair was matted to his pale, simple face. He had a rapier sheathed at his side and a flintlock tucked safely inside his belt, both ready for use at any given moment. In front of him, a short distance away but still in view, his opponent rode. He had a beautiful young woman with long, golden hair draped across his horse behind him. She was crying and screaming and looked rather frightened for her very life. The rider, a man with long red hair, glanced back to see if his hunter was still in pursuit, and then he and his horse cut a swathe through a group of tall, ancient trees. Behind him, the other man followed suit, determined to stay on his opponent's trail.
"Attok!!!" the pursuer shouted at the top of his lungs.
Pulling his flintlock out of his belt, the man aimed at the red-haired rider in front of him and fired off a single shot. The bullet just missed the other man's head by inches and ricocheted off a nearby tree. The act was enough to put a scare in the red-haired man's horse, which stopped suddenly and reared back in panic, throwing both the rider and the woman from its back. The man hit the wet, filthy ground rather hard, but he gracefully rolled back up onto his feet like nothing had happened. He pulled his own flintlock out of his belt and aimed at his pursuer, preparing to fire a shot at him. Close by, the woman lay on the ground, aching and weeping, her frilly white gown stained with mud, but her kidnapper ignored her and concentrated on the task at hand.
"Mikhail, please!" the woman sobbed, her face soaked with tears, rain, and splotches of mud.
"He will not have you!" he spat venomously. "I will never let him have you!"
    "No!"
In the blink of an eye, he fired his weapon, but his pursuer was nowhere to be found. Confused, he scanned the fierce downpour for the man but saw only his horse, which turned around and ran off into the night without its rider.
"Maximoff!!!" the man called Mikhail Attok shouted, holding his pistol vertically in front of his face. "Come out where I can see you so I may put an end to your miserable, treacherous life."
The woman got up and put her hands on the angry man's broad shoulders.
    "Mikhail, please..." she repeated.
"Shut up, you filthy whore!" he hissed at her, smacking the woman across the side of her head with his pistol. He pinned her to the ground and stuffed the barrel of his pistol directly into her mouth. "Perhaps I should solve my problem right now and blow a big hole in your worthless head!"     The woman whimpered, unable to speak.
"You betrayed me, wench!" Mikhail snarled. "You and that wretched animal betrayed me! If it's the last thing I do, I will kill you both!"
