About the Author
Being able to write poetry is a gift from God. I didn't realize that I had such a gift until I finished high school. That's when I began to experience different aspects of life. As I encountered each situation, it seemed as though I could not get immediate relief from the emotional feelings, which reminds me of a slogan I once heard, "In order to appreciate the sun in your life you have to appreciate the rain."
Though all the poems contained in this book are not my personal experience, sometimes it seems as if I step inside the shoes of pain of others. Writing poetry helps me relate to and understand people and what they may be experiencing.
I hope each of you enjoy and find comfort in this spirit-filled book of poems.
May God bless you all.

Excerpts
A Correctional Officer's Prayer
Lord as we walk beyond the confined doors,
We ask that you look upon us as children of yours.
As we enter upon murderers, rapists and thieves,
We ask that you hear this word of prayer...
Though we are not on our knees. When I have come upon an inmate that is belligerent,
Teach me to make him/her more tolerant.
When I have come upon an inmate that is troubled,
Teach me to make him/her more humble.
When I come upon an inmate that is disobedient,
Teach me a way to show him/her to be more obedient.
When I have come upon an inmate that does not bare your crown,
Teach me to walk away with a smile, not a frown.
When I have come upon more than I can bear,
Lord, please hear my humble prayer.A Tribute to Postal Carriers
In January 2002 I presented the Mariana Post Office with a written poem tribute to Postal carriers for the continuous work efforts all through the 9-11 tragedy that led to the Anthrax scare. This tribute was inspired by my Heavenly Father and presently hangs inside the Mariana Post Office.
Once Again my Heavenly Father has laid inspiration upon my heart, which is to have a monument for public viewing. Placed outside the Post Office by 9-11-02 in memory of the 9-11 tragedy.
What a merciful blessing we received today
A message through the Postal Carrier came our way
Though the agony of 9-11 brought tears of despair
and the shadow of darkness was upon the air
But through it all, our heavenly father was thereGod directed each Postal Carrier to a special place
and showered them with His love and Holy grace
He descended angels to guide them on the route
He even carried them when they were in doubt
But all in all our mighty God's arm was extended outBlessings of recovery and bundles of love
And the greatest gift -charity- from high above
flowed in the Post Office in sealed messages and prayers
Anointed by the hand of God, clerks sealed them with cares
God even shielded and protected them from Terrorism scaresAnd now we Americans unite together and say unto you
"Thank you each for the job you do"
And may these words bless and guide us all
United We Stand, Divided We Fall
But, through Christ Jesus we can conquer it all
