About the Book
Haley Ann Lethridge was just another overworked office assistant with a nasty supervisor until the day of the murder. Living in the San Joaquin Valley with her brother Andrew and her three Siberian huskies, Haley endures unpleasant coworkers and a pompous boss. Meanwhile she tries to spend as much time as possible with her playful pets, who are keenly interested in the dinner table. Little does Haley suspect that one of her coworkers is plotting to kill someone in the office and has her in mind to take the fall. Somehow Haley must find a way to catch the killer before she ends up in jail and her dogs end up without an owner. Determined to clear her name, she and her friend Pam hatch a plot to entrap the person they suspect the most.
The dog lover's answer to the cat cozy, Canine Capers: The Case of the Smoking Supervisor mixes dogs that speak their minds with the world of office politics. While the humans try to catch the killer, the three huskies and their two cat cousins have their paws in all the action. For anyone who loves animals and murder mysteries, this book is a must-read.

Sample Excerpts
EXCERPT ONE
"I don't know where you think you're going," her supervisor, otherwise known as Worthlessbum, rasped. No doubt the alveoli in his lungs were over-taxed by his recent exertion. "But I have a brochure that needs to be burned to a CD and given to the printer. Someone has to take care of that, and that someone is you."
"I'm on my lunch hour," Haley replied. "I'll be happy to take care of it when I get back."
"You'll take care of it now!" Worthlessbum flashed. "As long as you work here, you do what I say."
"I'm not working at the moment," Haley replied. "I'm on my own time. When I'm back on the clock you can talk to me about another assignment."
With that, Haley headed for her car.
EXCERPT TWO
It was at this point that Haley decided to interrupt so she could implement the plan she and Pam had put together. "Excuse me, Mr. Morris, but aren't you forgetting something?"
Fully engaged now in his meaningless blather, Mr. Morris stopped short, puffing a little in consternation. Underlings were not supposed to interrupt him; they were merely there at his orders and should remember to play their roles as suitable backdrops for his performance. "Uh...." he stumbled.
"Forgetting something?"
"Yes," Haley said firmly, then looked meaningfully around the room. "Someone here is a murderer, and I for one say it's not safe to go back to work until the murderer is behind bars."
