About the Author
Rafael Pedroso does not have any background as a writer. His message is so straightforward that it allows anybody at any age to understand the importance of basic body knowledge.
Rafael Pedroso felt the obligation to write this book to help present and future generations prevent serious illnesses and diseases. Rafael has experienced some serious illnesses himself. However, December of 1997 marked a turning point in his life that led him, to a total new path and mission to help people live longer without prescription drugs, medicines and pain. He practices and talks about it everyday, "What do I have to do to live over 150 years?"
Rafael Pedroso began architecture at the University of Mexico City, but left the university to build his race car. He was a race car driver for four years; it was his dream to become a professional race-car driver that brought him to B.C., Canada in 1980. Somehow his dream changed, he met Brenda and they married in 1982; they have seven children!
Rafael is a very ordinary entrepreneur with big dreams for his family to live longer; although he never attended any formal medical school, he has acquired enough knowledge in health and nutrition throughout his entire life. In the last 5 years, 1998-2002, he has observed and studied the most common illnesses and diseases that are claiming many lives today. With the responsibility of raising a family, he began to improve his health to become illness-free by practicing the pure common sense of the maintenence of basic body functions. As he says, "The most precious possession anybody owns is their own body." And you cannot delegate this responsibility to anyone. It is up to you!

INTRODUCTION
You may think this title is unrealistic because, after all, there are not enough records proving that people can live 150 years. For that reason, I expect some controversy, and I know there will be some criticism. However, I believe, or at least I hope, that you are reading my book because you are interested in enjoying a healthy life for longer than what, today, is normal. After you read my book, you will understand!
I invite you to be a part of this new beginning of living longer, and to be one of many people who will prove that living 150 years is realistic. Of course, we need time to prove it, don't we!?!
Let me share with you what I have experienced in the last 10 years (1997-2007): Today, I am 50 years old, and I am in better health and shape, both physically and mentally, than I used to be; I am also much smarter now than when I was 30 years old. At the age of 31, 35, and 38, I experienced serious illnesses, and I did not truly recognize how dangerous they were at the time; I now understand it was plain ignorance. Today, with the knowledge that I have acquired, I feel scared of what could have been the results had I not changed my eating and activity habits in time.
I have to tell you that these changes have not been easy, but they were well worth it. What can be better than feeling better? My face does not look as young as it did when I was 30 years old, but besides my facial appearance, my physical well-being is better than ever! And it is getting better.
Unfortunately, most people fail to understand and learn how to maintain and care for their vehicle (body) to be able to keep it in top mint condition for many more years than normal.
No matter what age you are right now, my book will help you understand how to maintain the most precious possession you own for longer than you would ever expect.
I was thinking of calling it "My Body's Manual" Speaking of manuals, stop for a moment and think about the excessive amount of toy, game, fax, cell phone, car computer, and other appliance manuals that you have read. You have read these manuals or instructions of operation and maintenance because you have felt the convenience of enjoying and taking care of these particular items. You do not want this new item you just bought to break down and stop working in a few months, do you? No! You want it to last for as long as possible! Well the same goes for your body! The only difference is that you cannot go out and buy another body. This is the only one you'll get. If you spend so much time caring for your free cell phone to ensure that it lasts for at least a couple of years, don't you think your priceless body deserves far more care? Think about it.
I wrote this book because I got sick of seeing people accepting to live for only 60-80 years.
I got sick of seeing people taking more medications & drugs that limited their happiness for life, creating new diseases.
I got sick of seeing people dying too soon.
I wrote this book because I got sick and tired of seeing people, even my family, on the wrong path of nutrition.
I got sick of seeing children facing illnesses at higher risks than adults.
Yes! I wrote this book for you, before it is too late!

Your body is your vehicle in life to go wherever you want to go.
Most importantly, it is the most precious possession you own.
You have owned it from the time you were born, and you will have it until the time you die.
It is also your biggest privilege in life, and you are responsible to take care of it for life.
It is up to you how long you want it to last.
Nobody else will take care of it, and do the work and discipline that is required to keep your body for a long time.
Only you, and you alone, are in control of your body.
This is a responsibility that cannot be delegated to anyone else. Only you are responsible.

CHAPTER 1
THE BEGINNING
DRIVERS: START YOUR ENGINESHave you ever really appreciated the fact that a picture can tell a thousand words? As I began to explain the basic functions of our body to my kids, I started remembering my childhood, when pictures were words. As soon as we learned to read and write, we changed everything. We learned to communicate in very complicated and complex ways; I have noticed that doctors and everyone else in the medical field use this language. When we try to understand them, we are so confused that we no longer remember where our pancreas are, or the pituitary glands, nor do we even have a clue of their functions.
Throughout my book, you will see illustrations that will remind you or clearly explain to you where vital organs in your body are, and their functions. I will never extend this information to the point that confuses you and makes you want to close the book. Those books are there to credit many biologists, chemists, physicists, nutritionists, doctors, food and body trainers, and "body gurus". (Of course, thanks to them, we are able to have good knowledge of our body today).
I am just an ordinary man that makes sense of common sense, or, according to our subject, I should say I make sense regarding the common functions of our bodies.
You will be able to interact by answering some questions that will help you connect your body with your mind. An early question for you: which controls: Body over mind or Mind over body? Both have the same control‹the difference is that they take turns.
This is what you will learn: You will learn to interpret and start making the right choices for your body and mind. You will also learn to communicate with your body and with the foods you eat. It may sound funny to you right now, but that's only because nobody has ever explained this to you before, as there are very few people who know that this is even possible. As soon as you practice communicating with your body and food, you will understand that 150 years is very possible. Remember: Nobody can do it for you. It is up to you!
While everybody is talking about "turning back the clock," or "anti-aging," I have a different approach. Why not keep your body for 150 years or more?! Allow me to explain why turning back the clock or anti-aging just doesn't do it for me. Assume that you are 60-years-old, and you, figuratively speaking, go back 30 years. In appearance, you will feel and look good until about 90-years-old. Mentally, however, you are not prepared to understand living so long, so you will die. Anti-aging is the same. You are not prepared to understand living long, and you are scared of getting older. Let me explain:
When I talk with people, including some family members about living up to 150 years, most people cannot comprehend living so long. They respond with, That will cause for you to look older and have people do things for you. This is the only image most people see when picturing people living so long.
Well, I strongly believe that turning back the clock or anti-aging is not a solution to staying alive longer. To live longer, you have to know how many kilometers or miles (years) you have and what you have to change to keep it for 150 + years. Let's make sense of this scenario and clearly picture yourself living 150 + years. I know this is very hard to understand, and for some of you, it may sound crazy now, but as soon as you finish reading my book, you will understand and agree with me. "Why not live 150+years? No one can make this happen for me. It is up to me!"
This is your 1st clue: No one will do it for me. This is the first mental picture that you have to create in your mind. You have to believe it to see it. As soon as you adopt this image of a healthy old age, you will gain a positive inner energy to go for it, and enjoy it! You will learn to practice positive mental thinking from here on.
This is one of my observations: Many disorders, changes, and responses in our body are still not understood. What we know today about our body is just one step of many to come. I estimate that today, we are accelerating this knowledge at a rate of 100 years per every 5 years. This means that in the next 20 years, we will extend our current knowledge at the same rate as it took to gain the same amount of knowledge in 400 years in the past. Confused ?! Let me say it like this: every year we are learning the same amount as what it used to take us 20 years to learn! This means that we will be able to have better and more concrete knowledge of our own body functions, which, in this acceleration of time, will teach us concepts about our body that today may sound impossible, or even scary, to some people, such as living forever. At the same time, nutrition is improving by classifying more concrete evidence of how choosing healthy foods in our diet can rebuild cells and tissues in our bodies. This is all fascinating when you love life!
Personally, the reason why I want to live over 150 years is because I want to try all the new ways of transportation, for example, flying cars, or any flying devices that are being tested right now! I want to go to the moon or travel to a planet for holidays with my family; I want to be at the weddings of my great, great grandchildren; I want to see my great great great grandchildren graduate; I want to learn future history, and so many other new exciting things that are all around us, that we have yet to experience. I want to enjoy life for a long time!
If you are the type of person to whom the end of the world is, "I don't have money to live long," better change that perspective! If you take care of your body, you will find the means to live a happy, healthy, longer life!
Your body is your vehicle in life to go wherever you want to go.
It is up to you how long you want it to last.
You are responsible for your body. Stop blaming others for your own habits.
Complaining about the problems does not help.
Do something about it. It helps.
