Over the years, in America, the locker room has embedded itself in our culture as a permanent fixture. Amidst the scent of stale body odor and the sound of flushing toilets, cursing, and spitting, the locker room is still a special place. In fact, if you look beyond the sweaty jock straps, dirty towels, and just listen, you'll find the locker room to be one of the few institutions where the male sex is free to truly speak its mind. Little or no time is wasted on censorship. No great pains are taken to curtail one's remarks from certain areas of discussion. Instead, what exists is a public forum for males to open their hearts completely, sharing wisdom with their fellow man about life.

Maybe it has something to do with nudity. No doubt, congregating in the nude does present a certain vulnerability factor. As well, the acoustics of concrete and tile-covered walls lend themselves to strong resonance. Furthermore, the release from physical exercise might well serve as inspiration to speak one's mind. Regardless of the motivation however, the wealth of knowledge that flows from the locker room's no holds barred style of rhetoric, while not pristine, is priceless.

And it is within this same style of rhetoric in which I write to you now.
