About the Book The story is about two retired men searching for gold on a river known as the Tulameen in British Columbia and in the southwest deserts of the United States, and the people they meet through these endeavours. The novel is based on the true experiences of the author in a real world.

About the Author Donald Bickerdike was born in Montreal and was overseas during World War II with the Royal Canadian Air Force. After attending the University of Alberta, the Banff School of Fine Arts and the Academy of Radio Arts in Toronto, he was married and shortly thereafter moved to the U.S. In the early days of television you could find him unsuccessfully peddling scripts in Hollywood. His philosophy was always that life came before art; it is the absorption of the available experience of life that provides the ingredients for the 'stew' of art. That philosophy made Donald a multi-experienced human being who was many things - from desert rat to deep-sea diver, from gold prospector to cabinet maker, glider pilot to migrant worker. He traveled and worked from East Coast to West Coast - BC to New Brunswick, from California to the Florida Keys. Donald died in 2003.
