by Greg Axe

If you are fed up with the rules and regulations of the typical church, this book is for you. Church lady (SNL) would highly disapprove.

About the Book

Paul's epistle to the Galatians is one of the most powerful statements in print on a Christian's liberty in Jesus Christ. Many of the typical churches have established a list of rules or standards that their members are to adhere to in order to be approved by the "board of elders" and considered a good Christian. They are told that they must conform to these standards of dress, behavior, activity, and appearance in order to please God. As a result, many Christians live in abject fear and bondage of violating the rules of their man-made religion.

The gospel of Jesus Christ provides a new life for those who have received Jesus Christ as their saviour. No one is good enough to please God by their own efforts and merit. That is why God came to earth in the person of Jesus Christ and died for our sins. Salvation is a free gift obtained simply by trusting Jesus Christ and what he did at Calvary. We are saved by grace through faith, and not by works.

Many pastors will preach that simple gospel for salvation, then immediately ignore it and violate its truth in the lives of the people he shepherds in the word of God. If we cannot please God by our works before we get saved, we cannot please him after we are saved by our adherence to rules and standards. The purpose of the book of Galatians is to establish this truth in the heart and life of the believer in Jesus Christ.

This book, "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" capitalizes on the famous quote by Patrick Henry to apply these truths to the Christian life. This is a verse by verse commentary on Paul's epistle to the Galatians designed to break the chains of bondage and set the believer free in Christ.
