About the Book
In 1999, the charming, vibrant, old French city of New Orleans began to sag under the weight of a highly organized drug-trade, rampant crime, and police-corruption. These ugly blemishes earned the historic city another distinction: "The Murder Capitol of America!"
The city's most-listened to radio-station, WHLD, is holding a ratings contest. Its listeners are given five clues to find five keys in five historic locations around the city to win the keys to a 2000 Infiniti Q-30 automobile! The station's top disc-jockey, Shelby Clark, is chosen to hide the keys. While announcing the rules of the contest, the disc-jockey sees something no one is supposed to see. That morning, he finds out that someone was murdered! Reluctantly, the disc-jockey goes to the policw with his information.
Each time the disc-jockey hides a key, the next day he finds out that someone has turned up dead in the location! Everyone he talks to about it thinks he's suffering from exhaustion or he's spinning too many hits! ... Then, after he's attacked in a memorial park, the disc-jockey realizes he's on somebody's hit-parade!
Going to the police, they tell him they can't help him. To find out who is trying to kill him, the disc-jockey hires private detective J. Coltrane Calhoun to investigate the crimes...
The KEYS TO THE CAR is a hip-hop explosion! So, hold on to your hats for a fun ride through the historic streets of The Big Easy!
