About the Book

PRO SE is the autobiographical account of an ordinary working man who is fired from his job of thirteen years after an argument with the vice-president of company. Upon his termination, he is told the company owes him over twenty-thousand dollars in compensatory time, an amount that the company is unable to pay him all at once. He is convinced to sign an agreement for the company to pay him the back-pay through time. After a while, however, the company files for bankruptcy and stops payment of the former employee's wages.

Angered and saddened by this, the former employee seeks to find an attorney to recover his wages without success. He goes to the ACLU, the EEOC, and the NAACP and finds out they can't help him either, with one rudely ignoring his requests for help. Faced with losing thousands of dollars in hard-earned wages, the former employee decides to represent himself and take his claims to court. In Latin, Pro Se means: "pro"- in favor of; for. And, "se" self; him... For himself... He is confident that right makes might in court, but he quickly realizes the old saying: "He who represents himself in court has a fool for a client!" It is then he finds out he has more to fight than lawyers, and that the Civil Courts ain't so civil!

PRO SE is an iconoclastic trek through the underbelly of New Orleans' legal system, and one man's gritty search for justice in recovering his hard-earned wages - and his pride.
