Dili Okay Nwabueze was born on the 30th of May 1960 at Ehime-Mbano, Imo State. He attended Methodist College, Uzuakoli between 1973 and 1978; Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu from 1978 to 1980; Anambra State University of Technology, Enugu from 1980 to 1984; University of Lagos, Akoka from 1985 to 1986 and from 1988 to 1989. He graduated B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering Design and completed the M.Phil. course work (with distinction) in Mechanical Engineering. He registered for the doctorate degree program in Forging Machine Tools Design at the University of Lagos, which is still on hold.
In 1981 (as a second year mechanical engineering undergraduate), he was appointed a part-time lecturer for Advanced Level Mathematics (pure and applied), in the Continuing Education Department of the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu. He founded the Society for Development of Science and Technology (SODEST) in 1981 and served as its National President from 1981 to 1984. During this period he was actively engaged in sensitizing high school students through lectures at various times and places, on the immense influence of mathematics on science and science on human development. During his National Service 1984/85, he taught mathematics at the West African Portland Cement Company's technical school at Ewekoro.
Between 1986 and 1988 he served as a lecturer in the department of Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun until he was appointed a lecturer at the Anambra State University of Technology, Enugu. Soon after he joined the ENI Group in Nigeria (NAOC/AENR) in July 1988 as Technical Trainee. He is presently a Safety Engineer with NAOC.
He has written publishable books and papers in diverse areas including but not limited to Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Petroleum Refining, Petroleum Economics, Materials Management and Fiction.
Dili Okay Nwabueze is a COREN registered Engineer, a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, an associate member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers. He is a member of the World Energy Council (Nigerian Council) and was formally the chairman of Nigerian Society of Engineers Think-Tank Committee on Petroleum Gas Management. He has been actively engaged in the advancement of the theory and practice of foundry and forging in Nigeria. He has been nominated for listing in the 7th Edition of MARQUIS Who's Who in Science and Engineering® 2003 ~ 2004. He has deep interest in the technical and economic aspects of the Metals and Energy industries in the global sense and their appropriate application for the rapid development of the Nigerian economy in particular.

Forward
Many otherwise brilliant students fail to gain admission into universities and polytechnics to study science-based and science-related courses because of their inadequate introduction to and preparation in mathematics. Others are simply mortally afraid of the subject matters in mathematics, particularly arithmetic and algebra, probably traceable to the quality of presentation and textbooks available to them at the secondary school level.Okay Dili Nwabueze has finally come up with a textbook in mathematics (arithmetic and algebra) written in simple, clear language and readily made available to anyone with a modicum of interest in mathematics, eliminating and dispelling the fears, which the subject of mathematics evokes in many.
The book, Certificate in Senior secondary Mathematics: Arithmetic and Algebra is meticulously organised and presented in a form that teaches both the fundamentals as well as the more advanced topics of the two important areas of elementary mathematics. The purpose of this book is to provide a structured approach in numerical and analytical skills for secondary or high school certificate year students. The book is very comprehensive and covers a wide range of topics in algebra and arithmetic. These topics are carefully and objectively treated in a way that demonstrates the author's deep understanding of not only the subjects but also the difficulties many students have in grasping mathematical theories, which invariably lead to their fear of mathematics. With this book anyone can cheerfully go through the numerous worked examples and exercises presented. The presentation is lucid and leaves no room for confusion or misunderstanding.
The methodical treatment of fractions, factors, quadratic equations, averages, inequalities and logarithms enables the capable student to appreciate the logical presentation of each of these topics. He reinforces their understanding with numerous worked examples, which practically teach such students the application of theories, and formulae they have been exposed to. Certificate in Senior Secondary Mathematics: Arithmetic and algebra is designed to allow the reader sufficient involvement in mathematical reasoning, convenient work rate, comprehension assessment of sections under study and to simulate interest in mathematics.
Okay Dili Nwabueze has included graphical illustrations, diagrams and tables with the aid of which he systematically tutors the student in mathematics. All these features and the carefully selected numerous exercises combine to provide the student with an excellent textbook in algebra and arithmetic.
Certificate in Senior Secondary Mathematics: Arithmetic and Algebra is therefore commended to all secondary or high school students who need sufficient understanding of mathematics to be admitted into and succeed in college programmes.
