The Guiding Principle
Myth: "The human race is faced with a cruel choice: work or daytime television." - Unknown>
Fact: "The law of compensation seems utterly unfair. But fair it is. The higher the joy, play, and satisfaction a worker gets from his job the more the worker is compensated for the job. The lower the jor, play and satisfaction a worker gets from his job the less the worker is compensated for the job." - Mark Twain
Far too many people buy into the myth that work equals misery. I do not believe that work should be something people dread. I believe that work should be something you enjoy. I believe what Mark Twain said about the law of compensation. This book is designed to destroy the myth that work is a cruel choice. After reading this book you will see that Mark Twain was right.
The guiding principle behind this book is to equip you to find not just a job, but a meaningful career that is high in joy, play, and satisfaction. This book is built on the fact that the more an individual enjoys their job the more they will be compensated for the job. Notice I did not say paid, but I said compensated. The reason is work should be more that what you do for a paycheck. Work should be what you do to make a difference in the world. Work should be an activity that you enjoy. This is why I believe that life is too valuable to spend in a job that you hate.
This book has two purposes. The first purpose is to teach you the secrets of job hunting success. The second purpose is to provide you the motivation and information necessary to live your dreams. I believe that by using the information found in this book you will be able to find your dream job and make it a reality.
Foreword
It is not often that I have had the opportunity to write the forward to a book. The invitation to be part of How to Find Your Dream Job And Make it A Reality, however, was one I could not turn down because of the two parties involved: Jason McClure and his wife Sarah.
I first met Jason at a Toastmaster's meeting in Little Rock, Arkansas. After being introduced to Jason, we immediately engaged in a discussion about the possibilities of teaching people how to get what they really want out of life.
That was several years ago, and the excitement of that conversation and my respect for Jason has only increased. I have great anticipation for the readers of How to Find Your Dream Job and Make it A Reality because this book can only be a positive change in your life.
Jason and I have since shared the speaker's platform for a host of organizations and public seminars. He continues to be a powerful, dynamic, and wise presence. I admire him principally because his life's work has been to help individuals grasp the significance of their lives and to use their courage and creativity to face challenges, handle adversity, and grow as individuals.
How to Find Your Dream Job And Make it A Reality is a guide to finding your dream job, making it a meaningful career, living with passion and purpose and doing it in a way that resembles children at play - intensely, while learning, having fun, and relating to other people.
The "playground," if you will, that most of us have chosen is the world of work. Helping you enter into and thrive in that playground are the important elements in How to Find Your Dream Job And Make it A Reality. So if you've been outside peering through the fence struggling with ideas on how you will get your successful career started - read this book! Otherwise you might quickly get left behind.
How to Find Your Dream Job And Make it A Reality will give you the insights and tools to be better able to deal successfully with the permanent whitewater of job searching. The ideas are simply presented and easy to use with exercises that will make a profound difference in the way you see yourself as a job candidate.
In this insightful book, Jason skillfully presents the fundamentals for finding, landing, and succeeding in the career you have dreamed of living. If you have ever wondered how you would make it happen for you, this book will give you the keys to success. The great thing about success is that it isn't complicated, nor is it magical or mysterious. It is a simple process: Success is merely the natural consequence of consistently applying proven fundamentals to your life. In How to Find Your Dream Job And Make it A Reality, Jason has masterfully taken the seemingly complex and made it simple and doable for the reader.
I'm excited by this book and by the potential it creates for thousands of readers. It represents the distillation of five years of work, thinking, and creation in the pursuit of helping people get what they want. Read, learn, apply, and enjoy the results.
