About the Book

Two newcomers to the world of children's books have combined their talents to bring you this story, told from the point of view of a loving and wise sheltie named Rowdy. The wonderful illustrations bring Rowdy's story to life as he relates his life from puppyhood, when he was brought to a strange new home, to growing up in the love of a family who's closeness between each other and with him is heartwarming.

The value of pets and their bond with humans is explored while bringing the concept of a dog's feelings to the forefront. It is a wonderful story for children about family love and values, and is based on the real-life Rowdy and his family.

The story starts when Rowdy is six weeks old. He describes adventures such as being chosen by his new family, learning to go potty, enjoying nature and playing, meeting a skunk, visiting the vet, learning what his family means to him, and much more.

This book will tug at your heart, make you laugh, and bring Rowdy into your own living room.

Reviews

I just finished reading your book, and very much enjoyed it! I think what I personally liked best about it - was the importance you gave to showing a pet praise and love-that was wonderful! Also, how important it is to keep your pet well cared for by the Vet visit.

Denise, Phoenix , AZ

Excellent book! We both enjoyed reading it. Felt like we were there with Rowdy as you described his activities. (Of course, we were there to a degree.) Great illustrations, too. A very nice book for youngsters to read.

Joshua loves your Rowdy book!! He keeps saying "Sheltie, Sheltie"!!! It is so cute. He pets the page and tenderly kisses Rowdy's picture. I think Brenda that your book will bring much joy to many, both young and old!!! He was one smart dog!!

Nice artwork...good use of watercolors and pencil.

Dan, Lawrence, KS

Rowdy The Sheltie is a sweet story as told by a puppy about being adopted into a new home, and the fun of growing up in the love and closeness that he and his new family have for each other. It is a "wonderful" story for children (and adults), based on a real life family, about family love and values as told through the eyes of a loving and wise family pet.

Sandra, Littleton, CO
