About the Book

As a parent, teacher and counselor I feel that bibliotherapy is the best approach when teaching children about life's lessons. Children love picture books and if done properly it will captivate their attention. They also love rhyming books - as a Counselor the children are quick to point out when a book rhymes and love the sing-song approach to learning. This book The Lavender Llama introduces the concept of racism and discrimination to children on a very basic level. How the llamas finally get healthy again is from knowledge and love.

About the Author

Tandy Braid lives in rural Luray, Virginia, with her husband, Doug, where she is an Elementary School Counselor. She has four children ranging in age from seventeen to one year. She obtained her Bachelors degree and teaching certification at Buffalo State College, and her Master's Degree from Canisius College.

Sample Excerpts or Table of Contents

You see his momma was red and his Daddy was blue-
There wasn't a single thing he could do.
All this being said our little friend was quite sad-
How could being born Lavender ever possibly be bad?
Our Lavender Llama he did find a cure-
His purple heart being so honest and pure.

The diagnosis of the disease was right and correct-
The cure for the disease was mutual respect.
