About the Author Diane Reeder Elcoate is a native of the Great Lakes area. Born in Rochester, New York, where emigrant great grand parents settled from Scotland and Germany. Her family later moved to Michigan. A former English and History teacher, she was previously published in Michigan Natural Resources Magazine with a story of a trek through the Porcupine Mountains State park, titled, "I Know a River." She is a tour guide at Seul Choix Point Lighthouse.
