About the Book

Librale is the Portuguese word meaning freedom, which had been given to a young horse that was found running alone one day through the hills of the island called Sao Miguel

He was befriended by a kind and generous farmer who although was aware of the colt's defective nose accepted his free spirited perfection. However the other farmers took it upon themselves to help correct the oddly shaped nose which ended with devastating consequences.

Librale ran away. It took the courage of a little girl to teach the townspeople some meaningful lessons about love and acceptance.

This book gives children an opportunity to experience and understand the healing process from fear to love through friendship, forgiveness and ultimately choice.

About the Author

Lucia means light and from within her heart shines the inspiration to create stories for children demonstrating the power of love over fear. This Canadian born author writes stories that have been recreated from her own childhood experiences growing up with her family on the Portuguese Islands called the Azores.

Her career to date has been working with Inner City Programs. Since 1986 she has been coaching, facilitating and mentoring programs primarily developed for school-aged children and senior citizens that are challenged by economic and social barriers.

Now living in Toronto, Lucia lectures and assists with various government, education and non-profit organizations that teach individuals to rediscover and reconnect to their authentic selves through a process of healing from trauma and violence.

Her purpose is to provide hope, support and understanding to children who have experienced various emotional traumas and inspire them to use their inherent strength to make the choice to reclaim their power and voice through love.
