Sample Excerpts or Table of Contents
Preface Upon examination of books available on the subject of the ministy of the laity, one will find many of them devoted to the task of spelling out the philosophy, theology and theory of lay ministry. An attempt has been made here to build on these theoretical bases and then demonstrate what needs to be done beyond that.
Primary emphasis has been placed on what needs to be done to help lay people participate in ministry in two primary areas of opportunity: (1) the church, and (2) the world. While it is not possible in a book of this kind to deal with all the matters of ministry in great detail, suggestions have been made on how to train the lay people to engage in many different kinds of ministry, both in the church and in the world.
More attention in this volume is given to the problems and opportunities of lay people ministering in the world of the world. Suggestions on how to train them for such minsitry are made. In addition o the suggestions made readers will find additional help by consulting the appendixes.
Pastor should note that it is their responsibility to lead lay people both in ministry and in the suggested training program. The utilization of the suggested resources and training materials should prove to be helpful in this regard. In the final analysis the overall effect of this work would be to provide some "how to" in preparing lay people for ministry.
