About the Book

The Essentials of Geometry, consisting of plane and solid Euclidian geometry and coordinate geometry, was developed to meet the need for a comprehensive geometry text at the university level. The contents of the book were successfully tested for several years in college classroom settings. The text was used in the classroom as a one-semester college course. It can also be used as a two-semester college course. The book was designed to be used for the instruction of college students or for the mathematical education of prospective teachers. The text can also be used as a two-semester high school course leaving the choice of topics to the instructor.

A wide choice of problems have been given in this book. The problems range in level of difficulty so that students with varied mathematical backgrounds should be able to follow and understand the material. Every problem is significant. It is recommended that all problems be attempted. Of special importance are the problems bounded by the square symbol because they can be used as theorems or postulates in the proof of other problems. Chapter 22 consists of answers, hints or solutions given to every problem in every exercise throughout the book.

The author of Essentials of Geometry has chosen the most relevant and useful information and topics in creating this text. The text is well-structured and easy to read. The title greatly reflects the content and purpose of the book.
