About the Author Education background: B.S. in chemical engineering with emphasis in petroleum refining engineering, M.S. and beyond in theoretical and applied mathematics, and a Ph.D. in mathematics education. Retired in the year 2000 after having spent 35 years as a full-time math professor at Old Dominion University, Steven K. Atiyah now teaches part-time at Old Dominion University, and Tidewater Community College.
