About the Book The author of this irreverent seminal work proposes that a self-righteous attitude of intolerance backed up by force has caused us as a species to plan and construct a Final Planetary Holocaust. He points to compulsive objectives by a group of dedicated people, which he refers to as 'Barbarians' gathered on purpose, to accomplish a self-assigned mission for the annihilation of the human phenomenon. This is serious stuff and obviously no bedtime reading for sure. He submits that this planetary genocidal project is not only in progress but has now begun to accelerate toward its overall goal-insisting further that, we inexplicably continue to deny the existence of this scenario of malfeasance altogether despite the spectacle of horror, fright, cowardice, callousness, and violence, there for us all to witness. A situation, he insists, is generally denied particularly by those of us, who as members of the Western Tradition are for the moment exceptionally located in that quieter area of the eye of the storm, so to speak. A spectacle nonetheless made blindingly obvious and which consists of famines, nuclear arsenals, environmental collapse, territorial and food wars, destruction of marginal nations, devastation of the ozone layer, unprovoked crimes, morbid existence, poverty, rapacious consumption of natural resources for unethical profit, genocides, tribal warfare, etc. As if to make matters worst, he states that, all of this is carried out with our approval, simply because most of us refuse to be responsible and accountable for setting our personalized meanings, values and standards of thought and behavior in a cooperative pursuit of our bliss while respecting everyone's Inalienable Individual Rights at all times and regardless of circumstances. Yet, he offers a scenario for hope based on sane and kind behavior, while accomplishing this in the pursuit of our individualized bliss. The approach in this work resembles that of putting a puzzle without all of the parts-yet possessing a sufficient number of these in order to present a reasonable image of the message conveyed-in a sort of McLuhanesque manner. This helter-skelter style is tied together with several key words and concepts such as The Republic of the Barbarians, The Commonwealth of the Ings, The Ing Point, HID Syndrome, Article of Violence, Axioms of Dichotomies, etc. A truly fresh and different way of observing our social, historical and political realities.

About the Author Jean Ovide Bourdeau is a self-described average Canadian, who, close to retirement from what he calls an enjoyable but most ordinary career in human resources, decided to try to understand an issue that had bothered him all of his life: gratuitous and self-righteous violence. More specifically he wished to comprehend the rationalization of that violence in the mind of perpetrators, beginning with the routine kind heaped on battered women and exploited children nearly everywhere on earth-among others. This eventually led him to identify what he now calls an historical legacy of terror and malfeasance that makes it normal to commit genocide and go to war. During this process he noted that human history, major belief systems, cultural taboos and mores, etc. were imbued with an arrogant and compulsive self-righteousness that transformed itself into cowardly and callous acts; based on a form of immutable Immaculate Perception. That this process seems to be supported by both the State and its main agent in support of its principal belief system-regardless of where you look in the course of recorded human history. A reality promoting an unquestionable Absolute Obedience to State and Church (and/or Academia in more advanced political groups) as the highest good-elevating this notion as a social and psychological sacrament of behavior. Above all, this essay is an attempt to make some sense of a world seemingly bent on its self-destruction, while in the midst of so many opportunities there for the taking; that could otherwise help us pursue our happiness and live our bliss. Born in Montréal, the author now lives in a small village on the Québec-Ontario provincial border in Canada.

THE CAUSE IS ENCODED IN OUR PSYCHE

Intuitively, I cannot believe that the Barbaric culture which is our most pervasive and most obvious legacy, was always the dominant form of behavior and dominant element of perception for humankind. On the contrary, there has to have been something immensely more powerful and extraordinarily effective in the past, which made us cooperate among ourselves and form kinships-allowing us to survive against all odds, until the arrival of and takeover by Barbarism several millennia ago-and which somehow allows us nowadays to continue to survive in the belly of the beast, so to speak. Yes! There had to be a superordinate, innate, and genetic cultural program in our most ancient past, which made it natural for us to be good; normal for us to love; ordinary for us to help one another as well as to nurture and to care for ourselves and others; effortless for us to think freely so we could consider all alternatives to both our daily existence and our future; spontaneous for us to pursue the path of happiness, felicity, serenity, and bliss; and, unnatural for us to commit murder, genocide, or any other act of violence on anyone for any reason.

We must thus explore all possible avenues leading to an explanation of our present situation; ask all the questions possible, trying to answer them as soon as possible; endeavor to find out the trigger-cause for the virulent violence now predominant in our world, so it can be eliminated; stop treating the symptoms of violence, cowardice, and callousness (such as gun control) surrounding us all as normal human characteristics; and, get on to the source and solve the ethical problem causing that behavior. Increasing surveillance and police actions on disobedient people do not resolve the malevolence undermining our civilization, so more police officers and a greater army are not the answer. The construction of more incarceration centers, just like the invention of more stringent laws, etc., will not resolve the impending ethical syndrome at hand. We must instead change our worldview to one in which kindness to one another is primary. We must also begin to interpret and understand the reality in which we live by simply ceasing to be doctrinaire. Incontestably, our ethics must change, transforming us into caring, compassionate, loving, and kind people. Finally, we must accomplish this, of course, in an atmosphere of peace and serenity.

No one needs to be recognized as special in this endeavor. Yes! If you care about yourself, you also care about other people, and, if your life style diffuses kindness and sanity, you are already participating in finding the answer to this dramatic riddle. It is as if the cause is encoded in our psyche and demonstrated in our attitude.

HUMAN RIGHTS MUST SUPERCEDE STATE AND CHURCH RIGHTS

As we focus our efforts for a root cause about Barbarism, we soon realize that the scientific establishment alone cannot do it, even with its all-inclusive open-endedness. It is all too specialized and not yet integrated. It is also unfair to use the scientific establishment alone, for to do so, would be like using a highly focused laser beam to assemble a logical universe of data from an astronomical context. Under the best-dreamed scenario, it would take forever. We must, therefore, use our imagination and make mental leaps. We are not only capable of doing this, but have done so from time immemorial. Without a doubt, our imagination is our best survival tactic. The technological advancement of the last centuries is proof of that. The establishment of Western style democracies is another. The best and most advanced example of advanced thinking is not only found in our space technology, or in our social programs, or in our medical discoveries-although these are laudable accomplishments. No! They are epitomized in The Constitution of The United States Of America. There for the first time ever (to my knowledge) in human history you find the first and certainly the most important recognition of Inalienable Individual Rights over State and Church rights. Indeed, the establishment of a constitutional republic, where the rights of the individuals are supreme, and which State or Church cannot infringe, catapulted the U.S.A. onto the world stage at a speed and with an impact never seen before in all of our world history.

The results of the energies released from that brand new type of freedom can now be observed nearly everywhere on Earth, and the warmth from it continues to benefit an unprecedented great number of people. Whatever the scenario, or wherever we are, and no matter what circumstances we find ourselves in, one thing is for sure in our efforts to find a solution to our serious problem of Barbarism. Yes! All of us freely thinking human beings are needed in this search to resolve the issue. So, let us then help ourselves by ourselves rather than try to convert others to our point of view. We will thereby begin as a form of genuine fellowship, the construction of plausible hypotheses. Let us begin to assemble the pieces of the puzzle, each in our own way, so that our aggregate efforts can eventually lead us to a trigger-cause. Yes! Let us, cooperatively, participate in the solution to the crucial problem of first eliminating the impact of Barbarism and then work on its eradication. Let us then, as individuals, open our mind to all modes of thinking. Let us also understand that no one has the exclusive franchise on thinking, no matter how authoritative the source, nor how allegedly highly educated that source is. Let us further recognize that no one can self elect herself/himself to authoritative knowledge on this issue or any others for that matter because thinking is a n
al human trait common to all of us. Finally, let us admit out front that only governing through the unimpeded routine existence of Inalienable Individual Rights will make the difference.

INNATE RIGHT TO INTELLECTUALLY HYPOTHESIZE ANYTHING

All of us emerged from the same phenomenon. We are from the same source. Essentially, we all possess the same genetic history. The difference that made us somewhat different only occurred in the last few hundred thousand years. That difference shows itself, among many of us and in many ways, in a pissy attitude. Be that as it may, compared to the billions of years it took to produce us, it is at most an extremely tiny fraction of the time spent on Earth as a species. So the discrimination noted between predators and bliss-oriented people appear at the intellectual level where attitude toward the unknown and the unmanageable becomes evident, and wherein the distinctions we invent, occur primarily in the field of ethics. In view of the tiny fraction of time into this attitudinal reality warp, we have a good chance of getting out of our stupid stance as a species, if we wish it. Oh yes! There is still some time to correct our irresponsible, unsympathetic, spineless, and stupid errors. Therefore, we should begin by reminding ourselves that we all possess the innate right to intellectually hypothesize anything. We should further adopt that perspective in trying to resolve this mystery befuddling us all. For indeed, there has to be something better in our world than the paranoid pleasure of hurting ourselves and other human beings. So, let us not kill ideas by using force or ridicule, or assassinate (in one form or another) the bearers of truths. Let us, instead, openly review everything, everywhere, until we are certain we have made a positive contribution, in slowing down and eventually changing the course of the insane scenario now unfolding before us. Doing so, by simply reporting what we observe. In this way, each human journey can and should cumulatively facilitate in some way the survival of the human phenomenon as a whole. For that reason, let us protect, through our natural positive attitude, the precious consciousness that is transported from one generation to another-of which we merely run with the baton for a few years.
