About the Book

Intended to catalog the best of my years of writing, this book was inspired by a Higher Source. I literally wrote as the words came to me. There are poems of reflection on childhood while living in St. Croix. Poems about love, blues and medicine have their own dedicated series.

About the Author

Gemaine Owen, born in St. Croix, finds her home now in Florida where she works in a medical practice. Medicine and poetry are among her life's passions but so are birds and nature. She trained at Johns Hopkins University as an undergraduate and was a Humanities Scholar at the Medical College of Pennsylvania.

I Miss that Love

Back home,
I yearn for the loving fat-backed,
wide like a grandma's bosom
or a garland of flowers picked
from mother's garden worn
around my neck and a bird comes
close to me hungry for love's nectar.
