About the Book

Hercules is a city dog who is taken to the country by his family. He makes many discoveries there including other animals he has never seen before. He is full of reactions including all his senses and emotions. Sometimes he is in trouble, finding himself carried away in a fast current of a stream. But in the end he gains control of a potentially dangerous situation and becomes a hero to both the farmer and his own family.

About the Author

My professional experience was primarily as a teacher at the Horace Mann School. I wrote a graduate school paper on children's literature, was involved in a workshop criticizing children's books and helped select books for our school library. Because I was a head teacher, I spent a lot of time, reading children's books out loud and developing my own judgement about the ingredients that make up a good book.

My educational background includes both music and art. I graduated from Bennington College with a degree in music and study now with Seymour Bernstein in NYC. I am a professional accompanist and give programs in music appreciation. I also studied art, more recently, with Arie Galles at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Currently, I have a show of my paintings being hung at the Morris County Library.
