Sample Excerpts

Then as if on cue all the bugs stopped. A spooky silence poured over the valley and I began to shake as if I were cold. Just as I was about to suggest that it was way past my bed time and no 5 year old should be up this hour, I heard it. I will never forget that sound, " Klang, Klang, Klang."

Bud would ride him to school and then Milky would patiently wait outside in the pasture next to the school to give Bud a ride home. Just about everyone in the county knew Bud and Milky.

Bud knew his only chance was to stop the train. As the massive locomotive rounded the corner Bud could feel the tracks under his feet start to rumble. Bud ran forward of Milky towards the train and began to wave his arms wildly and scream for the train to stop. As the light from the trains headlamp illuminated the desperate situation on the tracks, the train engineer went pale. Jamming the brakes and blasting the horn the engineer knew the train would not stop in time.
