About the Author
Happiness is a moment shared everyday in the Marshallese culture. Joanna Bucknam's work is dedicated to transfer that happiness into the reader's everyday life. Her illustrations depict real moments of happiness in the islands, which led to her love, the creation of the "Monono Me" Gallery translated as "Happy Me," her simple spirited, artistic creation that revolves around the life of the Marshallese people. Joanna is twenty seven year old, aspiring artist and writer, working full time on her BS in Criminal Justice/Psychology, while protecting the Atoll as a police officer. She has faithfully served four years in the Marine Corps, landing on Kwajalein in 2001 and has been in the Marshall Islands ever since.
