Excerpts

It was just about quitting time when Judy suddenly showed up on the docks while Marilyn was trying to load one of the last trailers of the day. There wasn't much loading left when Judy called out for Marilyn to stop again.

"What now?", Marilyn asked leaning to one side of the forklift to better hear Judy speaking.

"Shut it off", Judy shouted.

Leaving her loaded forklift on the ramp, Marilyn shut the power off as she inquired, "What is going on? I am nearly done. Why can't I finish?"

"Mr. Hartman wants to see you up in his office, now", she informed Marilyn.

"What's this all about?", Marilyn wanted to know.

"I don't know, and I really don't care either", Judy smarted off, "Guess you'll have to find out when you see Mr. Hartman".

"I'm on my way", Marilyn told Judy while she climbed down from her forklift.

"Mr. Hartman didn't tell you what he wanted to see me about?", Marilyn asked her supervisor before heading towards the offices.

Checking the clipboard to the trailer that Marilyn was loading, Judy looked up for an instant saying, "You obviously know him better then I do, sweetie. He only sent me an e-mail telling me to make sure you reported to him before going home today".

Marlene and Connie both hurried over to Marilyn's work area. The end of the work shift buzzer had already sounded and the friends usually gathered to chat before leaving for the weekend. Marilyn hadn't showed up where the girls usually meet, and so they figured she might have been running a little behind. The warehouse noises pretty much died out as employees began filing out the doors to go home. When the two friends saw Marilyn's forklift still running and sitting inside of the trailer with no one in sight, they thought this was very strange.

"Do you think Marilyn just up and left everything as it was when the buzzer went off?", Marlene wanted to know.

"No way!", Connie replied, "Judy would fire anyone that did that, and Marilyn knows it".

A closer inspection of the inside of the trailer made the friends realize that the products were slammed so hard together that it created damage to some of the goods. What did Marilyn do, they wondered? Marlene and Connie climbed up inside to have a better look. This was when they noticed a puddle of red stuff surrounding the end pallets on the wooden flooring. Both women became terrified as they investigated the substance on the floor.

"What is it?", Marlene asked appearing to be a little freaked out.

"It sort of looks like blood", Connie replied with a frightened look.

Looking even closer at the slammed together pallets, Connie suddenly screamed at a horrific sight. As Marlene's eyes fixed themselves on what Connie had seen, Marlene also screamed when she saw Judy's head hanging off to one side between a set of pallets and products. The supervisor's eyes were still open, and blood was still dribbling out of her opened mouth. It was apparent that she was already dead. Marlene was still screaming bloody murder while Connie was trying to figure out what to do.

"Run and get some help", Connie screamed at her friend.

"She's dead", Marlene cried out.

"She might not be", Connie told her friend.

"Where's Marilyn?", Marlene shouted.

"I don't know", Connie shouted, "she could be stuck back there as well. Now go get me some help".
