About the Book
Despite all the legends, myths and folk tales about the Leprechaun no-one has yet produced a full history and explanation about the phenomenon. This book begins with the fully researched details of the legend and its origins. Then taking the 'what if?' you could speak to a real live Leprechaun and learn the truth the author has expanded on the legend and given a feasible explnation for their existence. Using the accepted theories of science and researching the history of trades through the ages, the book goes on to describe the occupations of the Leprechaun. By the time the book reaches the social structure of the Leprechaun race it paints a picture of a society close to the Utopia man has always dreamed of. Fully illustrated throughout, this book is a delight to possess, look at and read. By the time you have finished it you may even believe in thier existence yourself. If nothing else you will have learnt a great deal about the developoment of cultural trades and answered such questions as: 'Why is an earring called an earring? 'What is the origin of the sock fairy myth?

About the Author
Liz Sinclair was born in the North East of England to Scottish parents and spent most of her childhood in Edinburgh. Later every summer was spent in Ardnamurchan on the West coast of Scotland. She came to Ireland in 1988 to live on the site of an old slate quarry which had been in her husbands family for years. When left by and later widowed by the husband she remained in Ireland, a place so close in atmosphere to the Scotland of her youth. With a variety of jobs to her credit, voluntary teaching of disturbed and handicapped children, nursing, stable management, and then ran a business as a coachbuilder. On arriving in Ireland there was no call for a woman with a Biology degree and a trade skill in coach building on the job front so she was sent back to college to learn Systems Analysis and Design. Thus followed a career as an IT Administrator for one of the Smurfit Ireland packaging firms.
On being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis six tears ago it became apparent that such a demanding career was now out of the question so she took the option of early retirement due to disability. This necessitated looking for something else to occupy her busy mind and so the writing career began. So far she has won awards for her poetry and published a first collection 'Mind Thoughts' in 2001. Then expanding to short stories she produced another collection of stories and a few poems, 'Deep Thoughts', in 2003. Since 2000 she has written as a regular freelance for 'The Small Sensation', a specialist doll house magazine published in the UK. It was a doll house peopled with hand made Leprechauns built for the garden and the grandchildren that first sparked the idea of this book. She resides still with her partner in rural Wicklow with her dogs and doll houses.
