About the Author

Born and raised in Palmyra, Maine, the author was one of five children who learned early that hard work pays off both in sports and in life. She attended Ball State University in Indiana for her undergraduate degree in physical education and athletic training fully intending to pursue a career as a physical educator in a Maine school. After receiving her BS degree she worked as a substitute teacher for various grades, courses, and schools. She then headed west to attend the University of Wyoming to complete her MS degree in Physical Education. From Wyoming, her first full-time employment opportunity landed her in Minot, ND where she worked as an athletic trainer in the sports medicine department for thirteen years during which time she also taught at the local university. In 1999, she began work as a corporate trainer, training individuals in computer skills. In 2003, she completed her second Master's degree by attending California State University - Hayward through their distance education program earning her master's in Online Teaching and Learning. She is a partner in OAK Horizons, Inc., and develops content for distance education programs for colleges and universities and for continuing education credits.
