About the Book

I Am Speaks is a collection of inspirational poems born out of my many encounters with God as I cried out of desperation and hurt in pursuit of understanding and wisdom. My struggle with forgiveness shines through God's own voice as He deals with me concerning love, mercy and sacrifice.

You will experience uplifting, healing and encouragement as you encounter words of inspiration imparted as God presented them to me. You will gain insight to help with your walk through the difficult mazes of this life.

This book will evoke newness of thought and challenge you to come up higher in your everyday encounters as you deal with people, circumstances, and your own struggles and frustrations.

I Am Speaks is not only spiritually sound as each poem refers the reader to supportive scripture; it is a sacred get-away... when the storm of life has settled over your house and there is no sign that the sun will ever shine again... that place of escape where you receive a refreshing for the soul, wisdom for your journey and counsel for your confusion.

About the Author

Deborah Willis is an assistant principal for the Fort Worth Independent School District in Fort Worth, Texas. As a very young child, Deborah was an avid lover of poetry and spent a great deal of time reading and enjoying the rhythm and rhyme of verse as well as deriving meaning from the various stories told through poetry.

Born and raised on the west side of Fort Worth along with five sisters and three brothers, her life was that of a typical preacher's kid... that is... a Pentecostal preacher's kid... church as a way of life.

After completing high school, Deborah joined the United States Army, where she served for three years. Afterwards, she attended modeling school and worked several jobs before soon realizing that McDonald's was not going to pay the bills. With this new found revelation, she made the decision to enter college.

Deborah studied theater arts and later earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Texas Wesleyan University. Later she would enter Texas Christian University where she obtained her Masters Degree and administrative certification in education. She has spent the last 22 years as an educator and advocate for under privileged children in the inner city.

God has given Deborah, the ability to touch the hearts of people with the gift of entertainment while bringing hope to hopeless situations and words of reassurance to the distraught. Not only does Deborah address human experiences through her writings, she is many times called upon to speak words of encouragement and hope to others who are going through seemingly hopeless encounters.

Deborah is a member of the Potter's House... under the leadership of Bishop T.D. Jakes, located in Dallas, Texas. She is a recent graduate of the "God's Leading Ladies" Life Enrichment Program founded by First Lady, Serita Jakes & WoMan to Woman Ministries.

Deborah has one daughter and a granddaughter both of Fort Worth, Texas, and a son and grandson residing in Boise, Idaho.
