About the Book
Miranda Child was brought up only by her mother in England and learned a lot from her. Although her mother died in 1840 when Miranda was only 10 years old, the mother left notebooks with wisdom and knowledge for Miranda to study during the course of her life enabling her to continue the learning.
At 17 Miranda finds herself in Bobertsville, Alabama, after spending a year with the native Americans. The treatment of slaves and others drives Miranda to create a sanctuary for them at the plantation, which had been left to her by her mother. Her adversities during this time gives her the training she needs to complete her destiny in the future.
A year after the start of the American Civil War sees Miranda traveling around Virginia helping victims of marauding troops. Once the war is over Miranda is considered a criminal and a witch bringing torture and suffering. During this time she understands the meaning of her life. Her lineage becomes clear and her desire for a daughter is the last duty she has to perform that will bring her supreme pleasure.
Miranda portrays an indomitable spirit and a sense of purpose. She can change people's views upon life once they have met with her. To quote from her mother, "It is like throwing a stone in a lake... you have the ripple effect."
This book concludes with the start of the next book in the Miranda Child Trilogy: Love Always.
