About the Book

A book that tells a chapter in Irish land history never before written . It is the story of a young priest, a friend of Gavin Duffy, Parnell and Davitt who paid the price for living his conscience and died in ignominy.

About the Author

A resident of Pennsylvania, James T. Clare was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court as well as the Supreme Court of New Jersey. He also served as a Public Prosecutor and Deputy Attorney General in that State.

A descendant of County Roscommon famine immigrants he has had a deep interest in the Nineteenth-Century Irish land agitations and those who led movements. Additionally, he has been active for many years in Irish-American affairs and was a Special Assistant to the producers of the 1983 New York City staging of John B. Keane's play Big Maggie.

Although in the past he has published articles on legal topics and local Pennsylvania history, this is his first venture into the book world. A synopsis of this work was published in the February, 2003 edition of the County Meath Historical Society publication Riocht na Midhe.
