About the Book

Julie Hansen spent many summers as a child at her fanily cabin in Secret Cove on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. One of their fondest memories was waking up early in the morning as the sun was coming up looking out at all the boats anchored in the cove, wondering what adventures had brought them to this special little spot along the coast. As an Early Childhood Educator Julie has developed a great interest and love for the world of children's literature and thought it was time she put her own imagination to work and write her first book, "Jack's Magic Hat." Julie resides on Vancouver's North Shore where she teaches preschool in a small picturesque community along the Sea to Sky Highway.

Sandie Boothman was born and raised in Eastern Oregon. Shortly after they wed in 1964 she and her husband immigrated to Canada. She has always bought books for her grandchildren and encouraged them to read. When the opportunity arose to illustrate Julie Hansen's book, it was an exciting one for Sandie and her family. Sandie and her husband have lived in several unique areas of British Columbia and currently reside in the South Okanagan where they own a small farm. Sandie keep busy with her love for painting and gardening as well as training and showing quarter horses.
