About the Book

One man's search for the Holy Grail, and his deepening involvement with an ancient society whose web reaches into every corner of society. His quest takes him into and beyond the practises of witchcraft, into ancient crypts and finally on a hunt for the very tomb of Adam.

About the Author

Richard Maynard is an English-born resident of Australia. A one-time soldier, sailor, builder, teacher and aid worker, he has published five novels: The Coconut Book, The Quiet Place (The Return in USA), Trail of the Warrigal, The Gundabara Legacy, and Tinker's Luck.

Excerpts

The Coconut Book:

A literary tour de force. A memorable moment occurs when the castaway realizes that he is sharing his hut with another living creature... A strong sense of place.

The Sunday Telegraph

"The Coconut Book" is to Robinson Crusoe what "Watership Down" was to Flopsy Bunnies. If ever I were shipwrecked it would be, I feel something like this...imaginative and intriguing... It leaves a haunting question in one's mind.

The Times

An enigmatic challenge to the reviewer... There is no happy ending here - Maynard would have destroyed his riveting adventure by falsifying the tale. Indeed, the strength here is in the unrelenting realism and consummate skill in creating a story with a most sparse setting.

Best Sellers

The Quiet Place:

Gripping in its portrayal of seven men trapped in a place that is both familiar and horrifyingly unfamiliar. More than that, it is a chilling vignette of an all too plausible fate that may await us.

New York Times
