About the Book

Out on the farm of Springfield, a storm is brewing, a shearing shed is creaking, and three curious girls, all with overactive imaginations, are eager to have an adventure. Do ghosts really haunt the farm's old shearing shed? Are the stories of the old mad fox living under the floorboards true? Charlene, her sister, Naomi, and their cousin, Emily, have decided to brave the afternoon storm, sneak into the damp, cold shearing shed and discover things for themselves...>

And what do they find? Well, certainly that an overactive imagination is amongst the creaks and squeaks of an old shearing shed, can make things seem a whole lot scarier than what they may actually be, but... Was it my imagination or were there two, gleaming yellow eyes watching the girls from underneath the dark, musty floorboards?

About the Author

My name is Naomi Ruth Eccles-Smith, and I was born on the 21st of May, 1985, in the city of Orange, which is the centre of the state, New South Wales, Australia. I grew up, spending most of my childhood years, moving around from house to house, having a pretty normal life, but it wasn't until we moved out to Springfield, the farm where my dad worked, that the adventures started taking place. And with 2000 acres packed with rolling hills, winding roads, rough bush lands and snaking rivers to explore, there was no way anyone could get out of having at least one adventure (whether it was blackberry picking, fishing, kangaroo hunting, fox baiting, swimming in dams, rounding up sheep or even sneaking onto the neighbour's private property).

Old Mad Fox in the Shearing Shed is based on a true story; and adventure that my sister, Charlene, my cousin Emily, and myself actually experienced! Actually, we probably had hundreds of exciting outings into that spooky, old shearing shed, and I'm not exaggerating when I say spooky. Even during the day it used to creep us out, but I would suspect the reason for that lied in all three of us having very overactive imaginations.

After our years on the farm, I moved with my family, up to Toowoomba, the second largest inland city in Australia, which is up in the state of Queensland (closely followed by nearly all of our extended family whom we share a very close family bond with. We're just like Italian families I'm telling you! Aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, all wanting to stay close to one another and continue our closely woven bond.

I finished my schooling years at Toowoomba Christian College, where I found many lifelong friends and the love of performing on stage (which, until I came to Toowoomba, I had not interest in whatsoever).

During my high school years, I learned to develop my writing skills, as well as drawing abilities, and with the help of my year 11 English teacher, Mr. Jo Vogels, I finally found a way to use my creative abilities and share with the world, the stories that are my own: By writing them as books!

Old Mad Fox in the Shearing Shed is just one of many stories that I want to get published, and the ones that are to come, in the not too distant future, are aimed at an older and wider ranged audience and will probably come as a series or a trilogy. I am looking forward to sharing my stories and my created worlds with you all, and hope that you will find reading them as much as an enjoyment am I am having, creating them.
