About the Book

This is a fast-paced novel based on the author's own experiences during World War Two. It begins and ends on the IRT Subway in New York City. Between subway rides, the story combines humour, excitement, tragedy and history to provide a vivid picture of what it was like for a young G.I. in the Pacific war.


About the Author

The author was born in New York City in 1924. He was drafted into the Army in March of 1943. He served 33 months, 27 of those in the Pacific. In civilian life, he worked in insurance, and part-time as a teacher, musician and artist.
