About the Book

Life's Journeys is one part of a 20-year compilation of poetry and writings, which I had no intention of ever letting people read. It was my life's journal and it replaced the little girl diaries I used to write in. It holds the many secrets of my friends, our heart breaks and our joyous times. It is what I saw when I turned on the TV or walked down the street. It is the memories of a little girl and the stories she was told. It is the way that I saw life and how it affected all of us. It is a part of me that most people never see or even know exists because I keep it all locked inside. It is my grief, my disappointment and my Achilles' heel.

About the Author

When people ask me to describe myself, I always have to laugh because there isn't an easy or correct way to answer. I am different things to different people. I am the Aquarius that should have been a Gemini, the only child who should have been a twin.

I am the cold standoffish tomboy, who likes to shake things up. I take everything too seriously and I hold everything in. I live by my rules and I like to live on the edge.

I am the country girl who loves well water and venison. I hate wearing shoes but I love long walks and bathing in the creek. I like camp fires and playing with the animals.

I am the nursing assistant who went in on my days off so the elders would have someone to talk to. I'm the girl who let a dying man believe I was his granddaughter while he confessed and begged forgiveness. I'm the one that sat with him through my lunch so he wouldn't leave this world alone. I am the same girl who made a patient hate me so much that he fought to get his life back and now runs a nursing home.

I am the stranger who stopped a child so I could tie his shoe. The girl who gave a man a ride so he wouldn't have to walk in the freezing cold, the person who gave the cashier money for someone who didn't have enough.

I'm the security guard and the dispatcher. I've helped people find what they've lost and been the bearer of bad news. I've screwed up from time to time but I've tried to learn from it and move on.

I'm the keeper of your secrets, the shoulder you cry on. I'm your sounding board and the rock that braces you. I am your friend and someone's lover.

Most of all, I'm a daughter, a stepdaughter and the single mother of two. I love sunsets, moonlit walks and quiet time. I love the opera, the ballet and rock & roll. I believe in unicorns, fairytales and happily ever afters. Now it seems I am also a writer.
