About the Book

DeeDee was born on a puppy farm and was trained to be a racing dog. She had two sisters and one brother, and a beautiful, patient mother. While the puppies were growing up, "Girl" became a regular visitor to the puppies, and it was instant love for all. Girl sang the song about "Fiddledy Whiskers", and the puppies learned to listen for her arrival. She wasn't there for DeeDee, however, when the puppies were taken from their mother, and DeeDee shed huge great tears. Finally, the racing and running every day became almost fun, but somebody had to win, and it was seldom DeeDee. She heard them talking about "taking her away"...Finally, on her last race, DeeDee heard Girl shout "Go!" and something wonderful happened.

About the Author

Peg Tuomisto loved reading children's books to her students, and to her grandchildren. Now at 83 years of age, she enjoys writing for "therapy."

She grew up on a Nebraska farm, and it was in Nebraska where she was a teacher for thirty-four years. She now lives in Tallahassee, Florida, close to her grandchildren, and their parents. She is still working and driving to work each morning. She lives in a little townhouse on a lake and loves hearing the ducks and geese. She has written two previous books - How Did I Get Here From There? - a book about growing up in the 20s. Her second book, titled Recliner Logic, is a book of tid-bits about growing old and not becoming a "grump." She has written for newspapers, and taught journalism. She began writing "for fun" when she was 78 years of age.
