About the Book

This is a new organizational tool for Internet users. We all know that we are living in the information age. Information is now coming at us faster than ever before and on an hourly basis. At some point, we all struggle with finding the right organizational tools to tame this information.

For the information coming to us from the Internet, I have designed a web address book that helps people keep track of the details they want to refer to later after visiting a web site. It can be used as a workbook or a permanent record book. It allows you to record the web site addresses in alphabetical order by name of company or subject. It is journal style and coil bound which lies flat for writing convenience. It has 209 pages of generous writing space to make notes where you can include login information if you wish.

It appeals to all ages, from the computer savvy Generation Y's to the "still want to write things down" Baby Boomers. This book is easy to use and is especially helpful for those that are using the Internet on a frequent basis.

Excerpts

Introduction

Why did I create this book? I believe the World Wide Web is a wonderful tool available to so many of us. It has become the new reference tool, encyclopedia, dictionary and phone book for many people at home and at work. I think technology has reached a very powerful point. With this in mind, I still have a great love for books and it is important to me to read print on paper, as well as be able to write things down.

I wanted a companion piece for myself that would compliment using the internet. I wanted to have a place to write login information and make notes to refer to later. As I thought of this, I looked around and noticed what methods other people were using. I could see that people were on all different levels. Some would go by memory alone, use the "favorites" button on their computer, or jot things down and store in a drawer, wallet or pin up on a bulletin board.

There appeared to be a need for a book to record information when you were surfing the net, especially if you wanted to refer to it later. My vision was a book you could make notes on the sites you visit such as: medical and prescription drug research, scholarship searches, vacation and travel choices, job searches, associations, details of shopping sites, memberships, contests and personal records. The possibilities are growing daily for the types of information you want to keep track of in conjunction with the use of the internet.

In this time when it is hard to stay ahead of everything in our hectic world, I decided it made sense for me to produce an organizational tool that I could use and that others might find helpful.

How to use this book

Web Addresses:

If you are like me you have certain web sites that you refer to often and would like one place to keep all that information. In this book you can record frequently used website addresses as well as details about them. You can record the web site alphabetically under the name of the company or by subject. You choose the best method for you. There is space to list the subject and make notes on what is important to you. I need to caution you that if you record your login information you must be sure to keep this book in a safe place, so that others don't have access to your confidential information. See sample of Web Addresses on page 5.

Sites to Surf:

If you are curious like me, when you are driving, reading a magazine or watching TV you keep coming across web sites that you want to check out. Keep this book handy and you can write down the web addresses in the Sites to Surf section to look up when you have time. This is a convenient alternative to saving scraps of paper or trying to remember where you put a web address. See sample of Sites to Surf on page 6.

Projects:

This section is to help you organize your research when you have found numerous sites on the subject you are researching. First, write down the project name in the Projects section. Then record the page numbers from the Web Addresses pages that correspond to your project. As needed, you will be able to conveniently go to the exact pages that you want to refer to for that project. See sample of Projects on page 7.
