About the Book

Poems of the Heart is designed to entice the reader to look at life as a whole, or all of life, not just part of it.

To look at one's self and others a little deeper and with more of a sensitive attitude.

It's about understanding that which you don't understand and often times fear or hate.

It's about embracing life on a daily basis and not just on a weekend or a holiday.

The book encourages the reader to love the self and others unconditionally.

It puts the reader in touch with the wonders of nature and creates a desire to experience infinite love and respect for all living things.

These wonderful poems will inspire you to step out of your comfort zone and smell, taste, touch, and feel all of life, on a level one rarely experiences.

About the Author

J.I. Simmons is a quiet, gentle, thought- provoking man who is most at home among the woods engulfed by the wonders and the beauty of nature and the vast outdoors. His ancestral heritage is Cherokee Indian and he thrives on learning more about the American Indian culture.

Mr. Simmons was born and raised in the foothills of Alabama and Georgia. He was born into adversity and poverty, and the struggles and tribulations of rural life did not bitter him but, as he says, "Made me a better man." He enjoys helping people grow to be the best they can be. He is especially helpful to the children and the elderly. He also assists in teaching Japaense karate to children and adults, an art in which he holds a black belt.

J.I.'s philosophy is that all people should strive to unconditionally love one another and on a deeper level, as is evident in the beautiful poems he writes.

His life experiences and thoughts are soulfully expressed in his writings for they are truly from the heart.

J.I. has been quoted as saying...

"I go to forest and glen to bring God back to men."
