About the Author

Author, illustrator and lecturer Wayne Peters grew up observing native Australian animals. he learned their ways, their habits and fascinating behaviour patterns. He received a Bachelr's Degree in Science (Biochemistry and Physiology) which led him to pursue an international career in pharmaceutical/medical research. he has published and collaborated upon may international, clinical research studies in the disease areas of cardiology, gastroenterology and cancer.

His diverse, undegraduate training permitted an investigation of the plants, animals and geological constitution of the world of his youth. He is remarkable, in posessing a retentive (image-based) memory, supported by a unique, holistic, recall and understanding of what makes invertebrate, vertebrate, micro-organism and plant species survive. he is the rcipient of an international tourism award for his Australian-based ecotourism services and also of multiple, domestic Australian awards including an Australia Day Community Award for his services to Environmental education, awareness and promotion.

Currently, he lectures and conducts field excursions focusing on Australian Aboriginal bush foods and bush medicines, and writes and illustrates children's books and produces educational study guides on Australian Aboriginal culture. He lives on the New South Wales (NSW), East coast of Australia, where he now passes on this knowledge to his son and the indiginous, Australian Aboriginal community. He is an associate member of the Australian Aborigine - Guingai Tribal Link (Traditional peoples of the NSW/Central Coast) and is one of a handful of dedicated and authorised, indiginous-cultural, educators for the NSW public schol system.
