About the Author

On August 19, 1998 it started. On October 10, 2003 it was finished. Having six young children between them, brothers David and Paul Cava decided to combine their talents and create a really fun and enjoyable children's book that parents would love as much as their kids.

David Cava is a husband and father of three wonderful children. He has a BA degree in Psychology from La Salle University in Philadelphia, PA, that has never once helped him close a deal as a salesman of telecommunication services. He enjoys writing short stories, poems and playing guitar primarily for a select audience of family and friends. In May 2004, David was honored by having one of his short stories published in a New Jersey magazine. The story of Little Carl Clark is a compilation of childhood memories, activities, and adventures that was written and then later illustrated to stimulate and ignite a child's creative nature.

Paul Cava is also a husband and father of three wonderful children. He studied painting at the prestigious Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA. There he earned a BFA degree in Painting and a BA degree in Art Education. Paul has enthousiastically spent the last 12 years teaching K-6th grade Art in the great State of Delaware and was honored as the Teacher of the Year in 1995. Through his teaching of children, Paul has developed a style of illustration that captures the essence of childhood. His characterization can best be described as "seeing through the eyes of a child". Combining bold colors and heavy lines, time is abundant and the world that surrounds Carl Clark is bright and new! Paul finds his inspiration from his own childhood experiences and memories and draws upon them to enhance and bring life to his characters.

As children, David and Paul Cava spent their youth climbing trees, hiking through woods, and stomping across creeks. The Cava Brothers would like to thank you for purchasing their book and hope that parents will be reminded of those days when time was abundant and having a lot of questions was much more fun than having all the answers!
