About the Book

If someone would have told me ten years ago I'd be writing a book about my experiences living with a one hundred thirty five pound wolf dog in suburban Houston, I would most definitely have asked them what planet they had just come from. Even though I always have had a warm heart for animals in general, I could never have imagined taking on a creature whose cunning and spirited attitude would keep me on my toes "twenty-four-seven".

This book has an interesting and natural storyline from the rescue phase to daily up and down clashes of acceptance by one another; a person's ultimate one on one relationship; and the spiritual connection between man and animal.

This book was written with the thought and admiration for the wolf dogs and their owners all over the world who both go the extra mile trying to co-exist in a world that has little understanding of this type of bond and relationship.

Enjoy....

Dedicated to Lobo, my buddy.

About the Author

I have always felt the creative urge to write during my life but really never had the incentive to do so. From time to time I would find myself losing interest with the subject matter about halfway through my story. These were usually human interest in nature and even though very intriguing, lacked a continued attention from one chapter to the next.

Then one day I found myself in a perplexing situation with regards to saving an animal from a perilous fate. I would rescue a young wolf that no one wanted and take him to my suburban home in Houston. What drove me to do such an unbelievable thing? This was so unlike me. It was almost as if some force had taken control of my spirit and was leading me into an unknown direction.

Little did I know that what was to unfold in the years to come, would affect my life forever and inspire me to share my experiences with the rest of the world.

This then is a written account of those experiences.

Excerpts

Sometimes when I was sitting on our deck stairway, Lobo would stand behind me and start licking my head until my hair was soaked with his saliva. In between his licks he would push his head rubbing against mine as if to say he was claiming me as his own. I later found out that this is a trait the alpha male wolf has with his pack letting them know each of them belongs to him.

When I felt a little insecure about the way things were going in general, I'd plant myself about three steps down from the top of the deck landing where Lobo was usually sitting. A few seconds later he would move his big tongue over my head letting me know everything was going to be OK and not to worry. This may sound crazy to someone reading this for the first time, but I can assure you that at one time in my life I was just as skeptical. I guess that Indian man I met in New Mexico summed it up when he said, "The wolf's spirit is very strong and will reach into you when you least expect it." He was absolutely right as I could now feel a strong presence from this animal which wasn't as evident before. It was almost like knowing what someone was thinking before they said something to you.

Lobo and I had become soul spirits just the same way he communicated with Tehya. We could be sitting in the backyard and I could tell him to get Tehya from the upstairs deck and bring her down to us. He wouldn't even move an inch and before long, here she came down the stairway and over to where we were sitting.
