About the Book

DeeDee had failed as a racer at the puppy farm where she had been born. There was talk of her being "taken away," but it turned out that "being taken away" was the beginning of something wonderful for her. She and her two friends were re-trained, and were taken to a place where they could be adopted. In DeeDee's case, wishing did make it so, as she found herself very much a part of a loving family. "Look, Mother, a real home with a mom, a dad, a boy and a girl!"

About the Author

Peg Tuomisto loved reading children's books to her students, and to her grandchildren. Now at 83 years of age, she enjoys writing for "therapy."

She grew up on a Nebraska farm, and it was in Nebraska where she was a teacher for thirty-four years. She now lives in Tallahassee, Florida, close to her grandchildren, and their parents. She is still working and driving to work each morning. She lives in a little townhouse on a lake and loves hearing the ducks and geese. She has written two previous books - How Did I Get Here From There? - a book about growing up in the 20s. Her second book, titled Recliner Logic, is a book of tid-bits about growing old and not becoming a "grump." She has written for newspapers, and taught journalism. She began writing "for fun" when she was 78 years of age.
