Anorexia From The Inside Out

by Kristielynne Phillips Cutler

67 pages; quality trade paperback (softcover); catalogue #04-1863; ISBN 1-4120-4056-6; US$14.99, C$19.00, EUR12.35, £8.56

Anorexia From The Inside Out is written by an anorexic (over 20 years) who is also a health care provider. The book is intended for those afflicted with anorexia and provides a guide for managing and handling the illness. The stance of the author is that of the anorexic, not the health care provider, although at times the hats switch making this book all the more realistic and credible for the anorexic population. Come visit the author on Wednesday April 6th 2005 from 7am to 4pm at the Civic Center in Augusta Maine at the WOW (women's wellness) conference put on by Maine Nutrition Council and Maine Dietetic Association.

About the Book

This book is written in the moment and during the writer's struggles, as well as calm periods, LIVING with (not Dying with) Anorexia. Some parts of the book are written as an autobiography while other parts talk to the reader directly. The book provides insight into the disease from the Anorexic's point of view for the Anorexic population to manage and handle this potentially devastating disease. This book, being upbeat in a joking and seemingly sarcastic manner, provides humor to an otherwise depressing medical condition. In doing so, the author is able to use the book to communicate HOW to live with and tangibly handle Anorexia.

About the Author

Kristielynne Phillips Cutler is a professional nurse practitioner and university professor of nursing who has been afflicted and struggling with anorexia since age 12. Although having the disorder, she has earned her masters degree in geriatric and adult nurse practitioner practice, is board certified in geriatric care, and recently earned a certification as a parish nurse. Mrs. Cutler is happily married to her husband Jon, a mother to four cats, one dog and soon to foster children. Publications include Clinical Ladders, Parish Nursing in Theory, and several newspaper articles on various political opinions. Currently she is pursuing a post masters certification in addictions counseling so she can reopen her private practice as a nurse practitioner but counsel those afflicted with eating disorders (using a biblical and nursing approach) rather than practice as an internal medicine nurse practitioner as she had done previously.
